Midway has got a mountain of debt to overcome if it wants to fight its way out of bankruptcy, but one way it won't be raising capital is the just-announced Unreal Tournament 3 downloadable content for PCs and the PlayStation 3. Billed as "the most content ever added" to a first-person shooter, the UT3 Titan Pack will be completely free.

So what, exactly, does the so-called biggest ever content update for an FPS entail? Well, a lot actually. The Titan Pack will update the PS3 and PC editions of UT3 with 11 new multiplayer maps for the Deathmatch, Capture the Flag, Vehicle CTF, and Warfare modes, as well as eight maps previously released as part of the Xbox 360 edition of the game. The DLC also introduces two new game modes: Greed, which is a tug-of-war-style battle mode; and Betrayal, where teams can change over the course of a match.

But wait, there's more! The Titan Pack also packs in 57 achievement awards, which are doled out as Steam Achievements for PC users and trophies for PS3 gamers. New items, weapons, vehicles, and playable characters are also party to the download, as is the titular Titan mutator, which, when obtained, turns a player into a 15-foot-tall monstrosity that has the effects of every single power-up in the game.

Unfortunately, Xbox 360 gamers will not be given a crack at the Titan Pack. "Unreal Tournament 3 for Xbox 360 shipped with enhancements, new features, and content the PC and PS3 versions did not have," a Midway representative told GameSpot. "The Titan Pack brings these features and content, in addition to many enhancements, to the PC and PS3 versions. Given the file size requirements for updates on the Xbox 360 platform, we have no plans to release the Titan Pack for Xbox 360."

The Titan Pack will be available for download beginning March 5. For more information, check out GameSpot's review of Unreal Tournament 3.

    F*CK YESS!
an extremely awesome addition to an already amazing game!
Thanks Midway for the free DLC, even though you are in millions of dollars in debt and could have really used the money.

The only thing that will attract me is a vastly expanded singleplayer mission / story. DLC that and I might consider ponying up some cash. Trying to cash cow me with multiplayer (online) hooks is not going to get it. Midway should have done BOTH SP and MP in the first place.

Once you update UT3 to version 2.0 and add in the Titan Pack, it becomes a whole new game. For $20, I can't think of many games that are a better bang for your buck.

I downloaded Patch 4 and Titan pack which upgrades UT3 to the Black version but I should have just downloaded in steam, unistalled DVD version. I have to say its alot better now, I shelved the game after playing it for 30 min when the game first came out, now I am playing it all the time, Bot AI is the best there is. a major overhaul of the game that was long overdue.

    @Gatchamania
It's because the Steam copy is being installed in a different directory than the CD copy.

The CD installation directory is C:\UT3, and the Steam installation is (Steam directory)\steamapps\common\unreal tournament 3.

I purchased UT3 for PC when it was released, I have a rig that can more then supports it. This game sucks a.., I sold my copy on ebay for about $10 less then what I paid for it and felt lucky to get that.
Face it UT3 flopped and is by far one of the worst FPS games ever released.
I have been a loyal UT fan since day one and I have loved the series but this was a big disappointment.
What made me mad was the lies and disrespect they have shown there customers and supporters.
This Titan pack is a way for them to try and make up there losses and as far as I am concerned they can take it and shove it.
I just purchased F.E.A.R 2 and yes it did have some problems but this game signal or MP is by far much better then UT3.
My advise to anyone looking to purchase UT3 because of there Epic's Deming attempt to apologize with this so called "Titan Pack" forget it.

I think I may actually pick this game up on Friday when I go pick up Killzone 2. I have nearly bought it on a couple of occasions, but with this Titan pack added to the fact that the game is a paltry 20.00, I figure I cannot go wrong in investing in another game to play online. That way, I can keep KZ2 fresh by alternating between the 2. Everyone I have talked to who has it says it is a blast, so it is time I finally pick it up.

Microsoft is so stingey with update sizes and if it came as dlc microsoft would make them slap a pricetag on I reckon. Its a shame being a 360 gamer I wont be able to enjoy this but still I cant complain really they did give us gow2. I hope the pc and ps3 gamers enjoy it I know I would

this all looks like a little on the late side for some DLC... the game has been and gone and a lifetime has past since....
i bought the game... was rather disapointed, traded it and moved on...

which to be fair im guessing alot of people have done...

so the only reason i can think of this FREEEEE massive update is coming is to get everyone to go back out there and buy themselves a copy of it again too see what all the fuss is about.

so midway will recoup in other ways
    not a bad idea...
because those who have kept it get alot for nothing tooo
    everyones a winner!

i however shall continue to play other games such as resistance 2 and cod5
    nice thy tho

If I actually played UT3, I might be more interested in this news. I got it for $10, but never get around to playing it as Left 4 Dead is so much more fun.

Anyway, to the 360 owners complaining they don't get the Titan pack? You realize that there might be a different downloadable content pack coming for you that has stuff from the Titan pack you don't have, just minus the stuff you already got? Settle down and see what happens first before you riot...-=p

Given the fact that the PS3 version lets you play modded maps and keyboard and mouse(if you wish)I chose it over the 360 version in the first place-we'll have to see how good the new maps/modes and playables are, won't we?
Anyway, it's good that they give the update for free but not so good that the thing which they needed to get into it(IE a playable SP that isn't just a very blatant tutoroal)isn't there. but, whatever, kudos for the big freebee Midway/Epic!

For those of you that are unhappy about the situation with the Xbox...complain to, and about, Micro$oft, not Epic. The only reason to be unhappy with Epic regarding the availability of content on the Xbox is the fact that they released the game for this platform in the first place and in doing so accepted M$'s policies that M$ would have total control over the content that is available for the Xbox.

In the meantime, for the rest of us...is it March 5 yet?? :-D

Wtf, not for 360... Epic have just lost points in my book.
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------
They clearly stated 360 users got bonus material that neither PC nor PS3 users received. People just aren't going to be happy no matter what.

I'm glad personally. I love the PC versions and my UT3 PS3 version. Can't wait to see this.
