What we heard: For a service that makes you sum up your state of mind in 140 characters, Twitter is sure getting a lot of ink. CNN and the New York Times both employed the service to cover major stories such as the Mumbai massacre and the 2008 election. President Obama also made much of the social-news feed during his campaign, using it to stoke enthusiasm among his supporters.

In the game world, Twitter has been the source of several leaks by both journalists and developers. The most widely read of these came when Newsweek's games correspondent reported from a closed-door briefing that the sixth Call of Duty game would be a sequel to Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. However, the news was never confirmed. Ever since Activision announced that Infinity Ward would be working on the next Call of Duty last September, it has steadfastly declined to say if the game in question is Modern Warfare 2.

Until now, anyway. Today, a tweet by Robert Bowling, Infinity Ward director of communications and community manager, appears to have all but made it official. "Reviewing some radio-chatter VO we just finished recording for Modern Warfare 2 today. 'Cujo Two-One this is Vulture, solid copy on all,'" read the Twitter post. (Emphasis added.)

The official story: Activision reps offered nary a peep about Bowling's tweet as of press time.

Bogus or not bogus?: Not bogus--and not unexpected. To quote Danny De Vito in the David Mamet film Heist: "Everyone likes money. That's why they call it money." With Call of Duty 4 having sold nearly 7.6 million copies and generated more than $414 million in the US alone, Activision would be foolish to tinker too much with a cash-minting formula.

    I heard this game was for 18 and older... but I don't get why. The Mumbai Massacre was simply something that happened which I guess this game shows you about. But why 18? If your mature enough to handle these things even if your under 18, wouldn't that make you mature? I don't completely get the aging system.

    i think a few thing should stay the same and all they have to is minor changes new maps same guns and add a few more same rank system i think people are looking forward something like gost recon i dont think thats a bad idea mixed in

    I think they should not make it to advanced and go insane with aliens and crap like halo but still make the guns and maps new. The thing i want most about modern warfare 2 is a glock handgun and to be able to customize your soldier.

    i think a good thing to put in modern warfare 2 is every map has a map identical to it apart from different weather and day and night.so like they did with makin and makin day. i think the worst thing they can do is 2 attachments and i 99% sure that wont happen anyway.the whole point of a attachment is you have one advantage at the expense of losing omething. for example.red dot sight gives you good accuracy at the expence of everyone knowing where you are when you shoot.if you have a silencer you are well hidden on the mini map but at the expence of less damege and accuracy.haveing two attachments just defeats the object of the game.so i know for a fact theres still gunna be one attachent. cus if theres 2 lets face it we well nvr see a red dot on the min map again.

    I totally agree with DrZaf. The mountains in Pakistan where the Taliban and bin Laden are hiding would be a great setting for campaign and MP. To not_here_4ever:

    i luv cod 4 modern warfare too, especially online but i can see some space for improvement online such as a variety of verhicles but to do so may require larger maps and more time to add in all the detail.can't wait for cod 4: 2

    instaed of zombies make them mutated terrorists with like 2 heads in stuff and have diiferents game modes for them and a range of maps

    Ik was eens aan het nadenken over de cod6 en krijg ineens veel inspiratie dit heb ik dan ook even neergeschreven ik hoop infinity dit leest.

    Single player:
    - iets langer
    - ander verhaal (logish het is een ander spel)
    - meer verschillende wapens

    Multy player
    - behoud ALLE wapens van cod 4 voeg er wel wat meer aan toe
    - Silencer op snipers
    - Perk dat gecilenced wapens kan zien
    - behoud ALLE perks van cod4 + meer perks
    - Behoud ALLE camouflages van cod 4 + grascamouflage op snipers
    - max lvl 80
    - vanaf lvl 50 meer uitbreidingen op je wapens bv. Red Dot + Silencer
    - behoud ALLE uitbreidingen van cod4 (silencer, grenade launcher, ACOG scopen,...)
    - crëeer je eigen characte voor spectnaz en Sas/Marines
    - Behoud c4, rocketlauncher, ...

    i think they should do what they did in modern warfare but make everything a little better like bigger maps the weather maps are a good idea the weapons should be a little better and they should put in nazi zombies but call it terrorist zombies and make it yuou get like one xp point for killing a zombie so you don't think that zombies is completely pointless and gives you nothing

    they should have weather maps eg sandstorm,snow,rain and fog
    costamizable character with more gun attachments more rewards for prestige

    They should do some cool stuff like being able to shoot off a helmet or something, like in killzone, that'd be pretty sick. I also think the war should be in like Pakistan now. I think Iraq and Afghanistan are getting over played for games. Pakistan because theres more trouble and turbulance there than anywhere else right now

    i think, for all you people suggesting a cover system or classes, that they should leave those things out. if you want cover, Gears is for you, if you want classes, go for team fortress. i think they should stick with pure COD, and add onto what they already have. not try and become something else.

    somethings that I forgot also its that the campaign be long and not make it really long sometimes I just don't have the mood to play online and also split screen co-op like I read in one comment have like squads and choose the type of soldier and also by doing things on the campaign like unlock attachments or guns, etc.

    I do agree with guitarist131, but if they actually decide to put in two accessories, you'd have to unlock it at some point.
    I would like to see if who you would play as the USMC this time. xD

    PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE... NO cover system. That would be so lame. Multiplayer split screen online would be AWESOME. Vehicles would be great if you could shoot through them like in real life. They'd probably be more of a target than a benefit to whoever was in them. NO TANKS.

    Personally, i think that there should be like a 100 guy TD, with huge maps because I hate getting killed by the same person like 5 times, and the game should go for a time limit not first team to 750 because there are thos matches that last like 5 mins and are over.

    what would also be cool is in multiplayer you should be able to open/close doors and be able to blow open doors with C4 or kick them open like in call of duty 4.

    Things i will like: 1-You can use a cover system but whitout changing camera to third to first person like Killzone 2.
    2- Vehicles to use like a chopper or a tank vehicles like that.
    3- Ability to use 2 weapons accesories at a time like a red dot sight and a silencer both in a same weapon
    4-New weapons tons of new weapons .
    5- A better campaign than Call of Duty 4.
    6-Ability to customize your armor like putting an extra anti bullet armor or a more resistant helmet to avoid headshots.
    7-New modes for multiplayer.

    Well my oppinion would be that they add a new gamemode to multiplayer. I see a lot of people running around shooting the enemy fighting by themselves without anyhelp trying to be the `heros`` of the team, well it`s quite annoying and i`d like a more squad based gamemode were each team would have 1-4 squads of 2-4 players and each player would have a different role as a rifleman, submachine gunner, support gunner, sniper, heavy weapons, medic, demolitionist, etc. and another idea i have is instead of putting in most of the perks you could make it more of an attribute system, every time you`d lvl up you recieve points that you can spend on lvling up attributes such as: sniper accuracy, lung capacity for running and holding in breath when snipping, hip fire accuracy, speed,regeneration the time it akes to regenerate health, strength lets you sprint and stuff carrying heavier weapons.
    well those are my ideas please feel free to agree or disagree idc. BYE and thanks for taking the time to listen to this =P

    It would be awesome if there was a new Modern Warfare. I'm sick of WWII stuff, this new Modern Warfare stuff is great. They could add so much more stuff to COD 6. They should add a Co-Op mode and more difficulties , that would be good.

    I think it would be awesome if perks included ability to climb tress and stuff. The most important thing MP should have should be more rewards for prestiging other than badges: New guns, outfits, and so on.

    Can't wait for this game! CODMW is the best FPS I've played, and although CODWAW wasn't that bad, it sure isn't better than MW.

    Sounds great but some improvements could include,

    1. more interactive environments
    2. advantage for prestiging like more perks and extra classes
    3. silenced snipers
    4. more perks and guns for everyone
    5. in ground war more players 20 or 23
    6. sniper lobby

    I would also like the ability to have 4 vs 4 system link, with two counsels like H3. I've been disapointed, sry infinty ward we dont have the cash for eight 360's and 8 tvs and a hub.

    It would be cool if you got a choice between a chopper or a C130 like the Death From Above mission (without bombs of course) .
    How about a perk to disrupt airstrikes / make them less accurate?
    How about a 50 cal shot to the chopper pilot takes it down?

    i agree with Mcfission and alloftheabove123. But i do however think that there should be a cover system in the game because to me, thats is the only thing lacking the game really. I think that Call Of Duty would be a great tactical game if it had the abilty to hold up against the walls when you are being shot at or chased, its more realistic dont you think?? I would love to Dual weild pistols and Uzis too that would be so kick ass lol. also i have been thinking for a long time that they should take you out of the map when you have a chopper and then you are in charge of the guns

    Things I want in COD6:
    Keep Juggernaut - but it should be balanced with Stopping Power. There should be a cost for each.
    Get points for shooting down a chopper.
    When you call in a chopper, you should disappear from the map and become the gunner, reappear when the time is up.
    If they keep the chopper as a bot then the rules from the campaign should apply: If you are a sniper and prone you cannot be seen (unless there is a UAV active and you don't have a UAV jammer).

    I agree on everything that allofftheabove123 said and also for all that have a playstation 3 that bought killzone 2 when you play you see the movement effect when he walks, runs, jump, etc. it seems like he is really doing it I hope they like did an effect like this in the game because you just notice and yes I really didn't liked so much CoD WW its like there's like a whole everywhere and people see you and too may rely a lot of camping spots and I HATE CAMPERS!! (snipers exception) and yes make every type of game available in hardcore and i just hate it like in Cod WW its like so hard to level up its like too long there's a really limited guns challenges in the LMG and HMG classes and people because they don't actually gain something with the headshots they just ignore them and go on to the next gun. I hope they make this game like we all re just waiting for AND YEAH SPLIT-SCREEN ONLINE!! AND NO VEHICLES THEY ARE SOOO ANNOYING!!! and i read a comment about helicopters that crash in the map and if someone's there then poor him/her that would be AWESOME!! (well if there's any helicopters) and not just different guns they could just put even more not just put out the old ones leave some of them plus the new ones

    To make this game better than COD4 it needs to have......

    1.more perk choices
    2.more and different guns
    3.ability to add more than 1 atachment (replaces perk1 and no grenade launcherbif you want another perk)
    4. varied maps with different daytimes and environments
    5.dont change the gameplay mechanic at all (no cover system please)
    6.!!CO-OP!!
    7. two player split screen online
    8.no vehicles please
    9.awesome story
    10.customize character in each army

    For starters, This game is going to be great if not better than the 4th installment, and is going to blow WAW out of the water. IS long at they stick with the same programing, give the campaign a face life (story wise) and offer all of the perks World at War had over COD4 there isnt much to complain about. 1. Kick Team Killers -----must be fixed 2. remove the MP44
    3. Replace one gun from each of the categories and replace it with something else or something more up to date i.e. G36C for the new military issue S.C.A.R.-L 4. Gold Crosses receive gold weapons Period! Something to shoot for.
    5. Get rid of the old School mode! Its wasted space!
    6. Every game offered should also be optional for Hardcore!
    7. Utilize every map for every game.
    8. Now a big one that everybody seems to complain about is Noob Tubes especially on HC Search and Destroy. Game battles according to some people will not allow a person to use C4 or Noob Tubes. I dont care one way or the other. I think there should be another form of HardCore search personally but Im not designing the game but we shall see what they do about this issue. 9. Gold Crosses should also be given the option for a 4th perk if they complete every challenge. Like an option to choose from any one of the 3 categories.
    10. There are some glitches many people know about in modern warfare that are indeed cheap and ridiculous. People have found all sorts of ways to get into places that aren't of the ordinary. Computer programing only takes us so far, but I have seen some pretty crazy spots people managed to get themselves into.
    11. Another person said it might be beneficial to include theme damage much like Bad Company. The only problem is that the memory to do this is overwhelming and could cause alot of server issues if pushed. 12. Infiniti Ward hopefully figures out a way to fix alot of the host issues and server errors that occur along the way as well If all of these problems are fixed, this next installment should and could possibly be the best game ever to hit the shelves. I think we can all agree that the WWII theme has been played out. I feel that Modern Warfare showed great potiental with online playability. I for one hate Halo and I think its a game designed for small children who have never been exposed to violence.
