Though it's a reporter's duty to present information objectively, it is just shy of objective fact that Uwe Boll movies suck. Since concocting the film adaptation of House of the Dead in 2003, the German director has made a name for himself by regurgitating a steady succession of reviled game-based movies like a cat working on a particularly stubborn hairball.

Boll's years of toil are finally being acknowledged, as the director is being singled out in this year's Golden Raspberry Awards. Better know as The Razzies, the awards are a qualitative counterpart to the Oscars, doled out each year to shame the worst of the worst, the cream of the crap.

While Boll's In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale is nominated in five categories (including Worst Picture), the director is already a guaranteed winner/loser when the Razzies are handed out February 21. The ersatz Academy has determined that Boll has earned recognition of a Worst Career Achievement award, a rare dishonor not given out since Bruce the rubber shark from Jaws won the designation in 1987. Previous recipients of the Worst Career Achievement recognition include Linda Blair (The Exorcist, Chained Heat), producer/director Irwin R. Allen (The Poseidon Adventure, The Towering Inferno), and Ronald Reagan (Bedtime for Bonzo, She's Working Her Way Through College).

As for the other trophies that might soon wind up on Boll's shelf, In the Name of the King is up for Worst Picture, Worst Director, Worst Screenplay, Worst Supporting Actor, and Worst Supporting Actress. It faces stiff competition in multiple categories from a handful of other nominees like The Love Guru, The Happening, Meet the Spartans, Disaster Movie, and The Hottie and the Nottie, all of which are also up for Worst Picture.

    You'd think that somewhere along the line, game developers would find out that this man cannot make game-based movies and deny him permission to make the movies???

    this guy is like a walking menace, he has killed great games, i really think the real ones to blame are the dudes that sold him the rights to do the movie. really bad movies with good budget are the resident evil movies, the 3 are patetic and the is forth one coming so i really think that he has competition

    btw, he already admitted he doesn't ever play video games, and the reason why he keeps making movies is because he is German, and if you do it right, you can get the German government to finance your films, they made it so if you are a German film maker, you never lose money on a film because if your film turns out a negative profit then the government pays out the money you lost.

    C'mon give the man a break... I gotta say Postal was one of the best game to movie conversions i have seen and it was hilarious ( The Nazi Gold was EPIC).

    I'll have to agree with tony2077ca. In the Name of the King is his "best movie". However, that's not saying much because it was still pretty lackluster. I'll admit that it was cool of Blind Guardian to do the music for the flick, but that's probably it.

    Anthony Bourdain was in Far Cry, therefore I think that it is Uwe Boll's best movie thus far.

    They were all horrific films that will give you nightmares and are still Germany's preferred form of torture, but Bloodrayne is the only movie I've ever seen in which even the trailer was boring. Usually, even if the movie is bad, they can put together a trailer to make it look interesting. In this movie's case, however, I wasn't even slightly tempted to see it. I saw the trailer and said "Ugh, that's gonna suck. It looks like Uwe Boll directed it." And I was just kidding, I didn't think it was actually true!

    @jahanamy - Vince Papale and Ernest Davis are people who were unique, they didnt care what people said about them as football players, and they became the best later on. Boll, he just doesnt know when to give up. he just doesnt know he has no talent in directing.

    i love these kind of people they are very Unique.they don't care about what people saying,they do what they Believe.when you start something you try to make it look good when you cost $60 million and result is nothing.they simply wont give up.they are strong.after so many failure he is still out there.
    i dont care about his Filmography and i never liked his works but really how many people like him is out there??go and watch edwood directed by tim burton then you understand what im trying to tell.

    Yes... $10million box office on a movie that cost $60 million is mad mad cash. What kind of people keep on giving this guy money to make movies????

    OK, I have never posted on this site even after reading for 6 years, so I'll let my first one be really unpopular. Are Boll's movies poor? Yeah, pretty much. Then again, how many of us are getting paid to make movies? Honestly I have a measure of respect for the guy, he still can secure funding, and his method is fairly ingenious. Why do people sell their "beloved" games to this man? Because he is paying, that is why. As for the "tax loophole", as far as I can tell, the law was set up to be this way specifically so that people would spend the money in Germany. It's kind of protectionist (don't quote me on it though, I am by no means an economist). The investors get to have a tax write off, and everyone gets paid. Not a terrible system if you ask me. I don't feel like the guy is ruining game movies. Truth be told we have plenty of other people messing up game movies (Max Payne anyone?). So I have to say I find it just a little ridiculous that all these people have such adamant feelings about a b-movie maker. It really isn't your game, If you do not like the film do not see it. And If you did, well then it was only 8-12 dollars. In the end, yes his films are really really really poor, but I still can respect a man who does what he likes and makes money doing it, cause he is already paid when he makes it.

    So ends my minority opinion. I'll go run and find my flame retardant suit now...

    Uwe Boll sucks, I'll give him that much. But have any of you ever played dungeon siege? The game was good but the plot wasn't anything to brag about. I don't think I've ever seen a plot as bad as Dungeon siege 2! A sword shatters a shield so you have to re-fix the shield so it can happen again (almost as redundant as the new Prince of Persia game). And the "cliff-hanger" ending was even more gay So in all fairness to Boll, he didn't have a whole lot to mess up with that one. How he managed to mess it up I have no Idea. I'm just glad he's not directing sands of time!!!!!

    Uh, AvP wasn't a video game movie. The AvP games were based on the comic book series, and the movie was (albeit loosely) based on the same thing. And as sub-par as AvP the movie was, it still wasn't as bad as Uwe Boll's crap.

    Couldn't we have him arrested for violating the Geneva Convention... Tourture is in the Geneva convetion, right? Well, making videogames into really, really, really, really, bad movies should be in there too. Now that I think about it, he doesn't deserve a razzie.     look at resident evil movies . they are all crap except for the first one andit wasn't directed by uwe boll. aliens versus predator is another game movie that ws as bad as uwe boll films and it wasn't directed by him. trust me in the name of the king ain't as bad as bloodrayne2. bloodrayne 2 is one the worst game movie ever created.

    I watched s video of some japanese chick pooping in a bowl. I swear it had a better narrative, acting and everything else that Uwe Bolls movies lack. His movies are literally, shiiiit...no pun intended.

    Wow, I read that he is making a vietnam war movie... about tunnel rats... without a script (all actors are completely improvising their lines, which is the dumbest thing I've ever heard- Judd Apatow btw makes amazing comedies with actor improv, but at least THERES A SCRIPT!!!!!).

    Obviously Ubisoft executives have been living under a hole for the past 10 years. Otherwise they wouldn't sell their game's movie right to Boll if they know his track records.

    It must be the greatest unsolved mystery of 21st century on why videogame studios still willing selling their games movie rights to Boll, and why there are still actors want to work with him!???
