Stubbs dev deals Texas Cheat 'Em
Wideload Games' Shorts offshoot preps downloadable 360, PS3, PC poker-and-minigame combo.
Wideload Games has revealed the next project up its sleeve, and appropriately enough, it's a card game focused on the fine art of cheating.
As the name suggests, Texas Cheat 'Em for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC will spice up the standard Texas hold 'em online-poker formula with underhanded tricks. Players can earn an array of advantages, including X-ray vision and card-swapping, by playing minigames such as slot machines, roulette, and rock-paper-scissors.
Texas Cheat 'Em will be released by D3Publisher under the Wideload Shorts label. Dedicated to downloadable games, Wideload Shorts made its debut last year with the release of multiplayer Web browser game Cyclomite. Wideload's other projects include 2005's Stubbs the Zombie and last year's Hail to the Chimp.
Texas Cheat 'Em is scheduled to arrive on the Xbox Live Marketplace and PlayStation Network this spring, with the PC version to follow. All versions of the game will support voice chat and leaderboards. However, the console editions also include achievements/trophies, and Xbox 360 players will be able to use their avatars in-game.
