Lumines Supernova PSN delayed, LBP skinned
Q! Entertainment's music-oriented action puzzler bumped to winter; Media Molecule collaboration inspires Sackboy-themed level.
PlayStation 3 gamers looking forward to Q! Entertainment's Lumines Supernova were given a touch of good news alongside a smidgen of bad today. Beginning with the downer, the Japanese game maker said that Lumines Supernova has been pushed beyond its expected fall ship date to winter 2008, better read as early 2009.
On the flip side, Q said that when the downloadable game does land on Sony's PlayStation Network, it will feature a skin dedicated to the PS3's honorary mascot, Sackboy. A collaboration between Q and Little Big Planet creators Media Molecule, the themed skin will be available for play in Lumines Supernova's Challenge mode.
Including the LBP skin, Lumines Supernova features 40 skins for the game's Challenge mode--some of which are new and others of which have been imported from previous editions of the game. A variety of other modes will also be on offer, including returning favorites Time Attack, Skin Edit, and Mission.
The game also sports two new modes: Dig Down, where players are presented with a full field of blocks that they must clear under time constraints, and Sequencer, a DJ booth where gamers can create their own audio samples using sound loops of drums, bass, two separate synthesizers, and other effects.
Lumines Supernova will be counted among the burgeoning list of trophy-enabled games for Sony's platform. For more on the game, check out GameSpot's preview from this year's Tokyo Game Show.
