Blood of Bahamut spills on DS
Square Enix's latest handheld RPG sees cities come alive, literally; local four-player co-op.
Yesterday, Square Enix's Japan arm quietly launched a teaser site for what appears to be the latest title from the role-playing-game-centric developer. The page, which prominently displays the word "Bahamut" in its URL, depicts a monolithic stone creature that appears to have had an entire city built on its shoulders. Unfortunately, the teaser site gave little in the way of hard information, though it did bear a countdown timer that is set to expire on Monday.
Gamers won't have to wait that long to be clued in on Square Enix's new project, however. As reported by French gaming site Gamekyo, this week's edition of Shonen Jump magazine details the publisher's teased project, Blood of Bahamut for the Nintendo DS. Not at all surprising, the game will reportedly be an all-new RPG that the publisher plans to show off at the Jump Festa expo in Japan later this year.
As reported, Blood of Bahamut follows the story of two characters--Ibuki and Yui--who live in a city built upon the back of a dormant giant. For reasons unknown, the creatures revive from their slumber, and people living within the cities find themselves struggling to survive in their now-hostile homes. Gamekyo reports that the game will feature cooperative multiplayer, where up to four players will be able to join forces locally.
No release window, Japanese or otherwise, was revealed for the title.
