Gears of War 2 arrives in stores today, and what better way to get swept up in the tide of launch hype than to drop an unreasonable amount of money on a merchandising tie-in? For gamers with heavy wallets and disconcertingly normal home décor, TriForce Sales today announced that it has completed work on a solution just for them.
The Gears of War Locust Drone bust is a life-size design maquette of the game's gruesome alien shock troopers. The drone maquette is sure to brighten any home by forever watching inhabitants with sunken, beady yellow eyes, while the receding gum line and lack of proper lips showcase poor dental hygiene sure to prove an interesting conversation starter among guests.
To ensure every detail from the porcine nose to the sickly pale skin was loving rendered with painstaking accuracy, TriForce enlisted Epic Games art director Chris Perna to sculpt the bust, whereas special-effects creator Jordu Schell handled the painting. The 1:1 scale maquette stands 19" tall and weighs a whopping 15 pounds. The $549.99 price of the piece is equally whopping, and deranged Martha Stewart types should begin receiving them in the first quarter of 2009.
Those looking for more replica schwag from the game might be interested in TriForce's replica Lancer Assault Rifle from the game. Not to be confused with the NECA Lancer replica included in Amazon.com's Gears of War 2 bundle, the TriForce rifle weighs 15 pounds and clocks in at a hefty $949.99.
