BioShock 2 trailer released, platforms confirmed

Widely leaked Sea of Dreams spot now officially confirmed by 2K Games, which says sequel is "destined" to be on PC, PS3, and 360.

Last week, a YouTube user posted what he claimed was the teaser trailer for BioShock 2. Allegedly from the just-released PlayStation 3 version of the game, the spot showed a now-older Little Sister holding a doll resembling a big daddy. As she receded into the distance, silhouettes appearing to be art deco skyscrapers rose from the sand before the trailer cuts to a barnacle-encrusted logo for "BioShock 2: Sea of Dreams."

BioShock 2

Sailing the Sea of Dreams...

After being reticent for seven days, today 2K Games finally came clean, releasing the trailer to the public. Viewable and downloadable in HD on GameSpot, the game is also available from the official BioShock 2 site and on Xbox Live Marketplace. Another version will go live on the PlayStation Network sometime today.

Given that the BioShock 2 trailer is available for download on two consoles and the PC, it seems a forgone conclusion that it will be available on all three platforms. However, 2K rep Charlie Sinhaseni was somewhat cagey about the details, saying only "BioShock 2 is destined for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Windows PC platforms." Reps would not comment on whether or not the game would be released on all three simultaneously.

"stoneface1 Posted Jan 13, 2009 5:34 pm GMT i dont know "sea of dreams"? sounds a bit tacky. lets hope this game wont do for biosock what the sequels to the pirates of the carribian movie did for that, e.g. cheapen it." You know what the irony is to that post is? The director of the Pirates films is directing the BioShock movies.

why the hell should sony get it just because all the original games are on the 360. Most of the ps3 titles are generic shooters like resistance. Seriously cant the 360 get a bit of privacy here? i mean obviously, the pc should get it because it is the supreme gaming platform the ps3 is just a scrape trying to cash in on all of microsofts rape assed games(yes i know it is not made by microsoft)

what has two thumbs and is very excited for this game?
    *points at self*
This guy. Seriously, I'm pretty pumped about this. I just hope they can live up to the amazing storytelling ability the first game had. It's a tough thing to follow up on, and I'm actually not really sure where you can go with the story after the first one. (Not gonna mention specifics for those who haven't played yet.) I think Bioshock in itself was a great stand-alone title and I can only hope they deliver a game with as great a story as the last one, or at least something close. In terms of gameplay improvements... well, I just hope they tighten up the shooter controls a little bit. Maybe it's just my PC, but I had a hell of a time hitting stuff sometimes. Anyway: here's hopin'. Long live Bioshock.

Also i think they could increase the replayability by being able to play as different characters with different abilities. Also so form of multiplayer would be good- separate to the story though.

every game should have digital decoding such as this. thats what we want in game!! cool sound effects!! disadvantage of this game is the value!!! no replay value!!!

  • codename-60091

    Posted Oct 24, 2008 8:34 pm GMT

nope, not buying this game! first one is not worth the value of it.!!! but i do give a 100 score for the first game that allow ongoing PL 2 decoding compared to others...

hmmmm no one mentioning the possibility of things working out where the game will appear on all platforms same time--could be that they will work on all then do so--wouldnt be first time a game was released on all platforms same time but look the ps3 got bioshock complete with all updates patches and so on while the 360 didnt---shows what happens when time can be taken on releasing a game and not rushing it like some console companies so like the 360--rush to beat sony with alone in the dark--now its like the ps3 will get the more complete version with tweaks and bugs worked on it--so be careful what you second guessing about--its just to soon to tell

Considering it was confirmed on the Ps3 first, its very unlikely it will bew a timed exclusive for the 360. If anything we might see it as a timed Ps3 exclusive.

Laptop, If the wii is stronger then last gen Xbox. And you take a game that maybe could of ran on last gen Xbox. Being on the Wii "with a talented team" Is not out of the question. And I thought it had a story. And thought it half a great idea and look, but failed to deliver it. To do a Myst type 50 retro, PC fat poly game look. "And to add in some Rob Zombie or cranival weirdness." Which many great artist fall on that style. Was a Great idea. But it had horrible execution of it.

I swear the first one isn't that short, got it for PS3 on Tuesday, played for probably four or five hours and I've done basically nothing. Actually it's getting a bit annoying, when do I get into this 'great story' everyone's always talking about. So far there is no story from what I've seen.

Well for a game that used over sized fat pixels from a 1995 PC like styled game, And was not nearly as sharp of a single player only game as Uncharted. If its for both, it wont be nearly as hyped. If its for 60 first, they will spread it likes it some kind of god its not. Good game, just got done with it. But does not sit with MGS4's and RE4 and Games of the years. Heck Dead Space was a tad better, and its a lame third party shooter that no one is looking at this year. And if you saw my myspace you would of thought I would of loved this game. St lye was the right idea, fact they could not get such fat polys to stay 60 with ease. And again single short = Uncharted, and Uncharted got chastised for single short.

I dont know, you get done with a MGS4 this summer, and it blows you away. And you think, ok Im gonna play a recent game of the year and something way more. It just did not feel game of the yearish. Not that it was not fun, just kinda felt like if it was GOTY, then Pychonauts should of been GOTY when it was out.

i hope us ps3 owners aren't gonna have to wait another year for the second one. i just picked this game up tuesday and i already beat it. i do hope that the next one does have some sort of multiplayer though, honestly the only thing thats missing.
