Bonus Rock Band 2 DLC due Nov. 4

Purchasers of new copies of game get free 20-song set of "emerging artists" from Christian alternative to Japanese metal on Election Day.

Rock Band 2 comes with 84 songs on the disc, but Harmonix has been promising Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Wii gamers an additional 20 downloadable tracks for no extra charge. After much speculation, the company confirmed today a November 4 release for the full slate of songs from an "emerging artist lineup."

To access the songs, gamers will need the DLC redemption code found inside the packaging of new copies of Rock Band 2. Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 gamers will be able to save the songs to the systems' hard drives, whereas Wii users may need an SD card to store downloaded content. Once redeemed, the code locks, denying those who rent or purchase used copies of the game access to the DLC, given that the songs will not be sold separately.

As with the on-disc setlist, the new downloadable tracks represent a wide variety of musical genres and countries, from progressive Japanese metal band X Japan to Portland, Oregon's Christian alternative act Kutless.

A full list of the tracks follows below (artist/song):

The 88--"Sons and Daughters"
Authority Zero--"No Regrets"
Between the Buried and Me--"Prequel to the Sequel"
The Cab--"Bounce"
The Chevelles--"Get It On"
The Cocktail Slippers--"Give It To Me"
Dealership--"Database Corrupted"
Endeverafter--"I Wanna Be Your Man"
The Ghost Hounds--"Ashes to Fire"
Hollywood Undead--"Young"
Kutless--"The Feeling"
The Len Price 3--"If I Ain't Got You"
Lesley Roy--"I'm Gone, I'm Going"
Opiate for the Masses--"Burn You Down"
Semi-Precious Weapons--"Magnetic Baby"
Shaimus--"Like a Fool"
Thenewno2--"Crazy Tuesday"
Tickle Me Pink--"The Time Is Wrong"
Underoath--"Desperate Times, Desperate Measures"
X Japan--"I.V."

some of these are a blast on guitar, "like a fool" and "get it on" are my favs in this list i wish the strats werent so faulty tho and like broke all the time because of the gameplay (forcing you to rapidly strum the strumbar for the finishers in some songs till it gets loose and breaks, the whammy bar disconnecting inside the controller, etc.)

I really don't know what you people are complaining about.
1). Some of the best bands I've heard of are on here (Kutless, Underoath, Hollywood Undead, Endeverafter)
2). They're FREE and QUALITY SONGS! Why does everyone think that free = bad?
3). Chances are, you're the either the rock and rollers who peed their pants when the ACDCL pack came out OR you're the pop posers who are STILL mad that Metro Station and the Jonas Brothers aren't up there with Zakk Wylde, Ted Nugent and Sting on GHWT.

Not complaining. Stating my opinon. So free = suck? And everyone should just accept it? Between the Buried and Me--"Prequel to the Sequel" is the one song i do like though.

tengu7667: You're complaining about getting 20 free songs that could have easily had a $30 price tag. Honestly, how can you be so selfish? Besides, there are some fun ones, you probably just haven't played them all.

Jesus, people are way too closed minded these days.

People are idiots... free songs. Please complain more. Like everyone is going to know all songs. Taste in music is so diverse anyway - like them or hate them. Free songs = shut up and use them or dont.

No way, Underoath! "Desperate Times, Desperate Measures" is an amazing song, one of their best on the new record IMO. Just seeing that makes me want to get my hands on this set list. They really need more songs that use this kind of deep singing, really gets your voice in tune after a while. Fun stuff

Well, considering HMX makes us PAY for crappy songs (Oh, I'm sorry, "bonus" songs) on the discs, this is no surprise. I'll be curious to see if there are any quality vocalists in this group. Considering HMX' track record, my money is on one or two...maybe - quite possibly less than that.

It (Rock Band/RB2) is still a kick-ass product though.

Philadendron: They're 20 songs. For free. You're honestly complaining?

And anyone who looked past UnderOath's "Desperate Times, Desperate Measures" clearly don't appreciate amazing instrumentals, much less downright awesome drum paths. That track alone makes it worth a $5 price tag, much less getting it for nothing in return.

well i listened to all of these songs, and i wont be taking any of my harddrive space up with this crap, theirs alot of great unknown bands out there, these arent any of them!

    sweet! UnderOath!

  • David_Kniffin

    Posted Oct 23, 2008 2:34 am PT

I download everything that comes out and these will be no exception. There's only about 4 songs in the entire DLC catalog that I regret, so I'd say it's worked out pretty good for me. I will definitely be giving all of these free songs a fair shot.

"The Stephen & The Colberts' and Vesuvius' tracks were free and I enjoy playing them... True they're not rock anthems but who cares, they're free!"

yes, but those songs were suprises, and people were expecting these twenty songs, thinking that they would be some classic songs, but instead, Harmonix kissed up to MTV and got some B.S. stuff for the emo kids to listen to. Its like your best friend buying a you a cake in THEIR favorite flavor.
