Sony generates MyBuzz
Trivia-creation community site opens today to usher in the arrival of Quiz TV for the PS3 and Master Quiz for the PSP on September 23.
While Nintendo remains the undisputed casual gaming heavyweight champion of the world, Sony has proven to be at least a contender, thanks in part to its popular Buzz! quiz games. With Buzz! Quiz TV for the PlayStation 3 and Buzz! Master Quiz for the PlayStation Portable both already available in Europe, Sony today launched the MyBuzz community site to start building support for when the games crosses the Atlantic on September 23.
Available now, the MyBuzz community site lets masters of minutiae build and share their own quizzes that can then be played online. Sony also plans to incorporate content generated on the MyBuzz Web site into the PS3 edition of the game. To drum up support for the site, Sony said it will give away a PS3 and a copy of Buzz! Quiz TV to the All Time Top Author, as well as as the newest redesign of the PSP and a copy of BUZZ! Master Quiz to the Top Quiz scribe. Prize winners will be announced September 23.
The PS3 edition of Buzz! packs more than 5,000 questions spanning categories such as music, movies, TV, sports, and lifestyle. The game supports local multiplayer competitions for up to eight, and up to four gamers can team up on the same console to play against others online. Sony promises that 500 question trivia packs will also be available for download, with each set specializing in one of the game's categories.
On the PSP, Buzz! Master Quiz offers 3,000-plus items of trivia, covering such topics as music, celebrities, TV, sports, science, nature, and movies. The PSP edition of the game features a variety of modes, including Quickfire Challenge, Picture This, and Virus Challenge. Master Quiz also incorporates various multiplayer modes, and gamers will have the option of either passing around their PSP or synching up to four handhelds together using a single copy of the game.
