Rock Band 2 getting six more DLC albums

Foo Fighters, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Jane's Addiction, Megadeth, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and No Doubt lending full track packs to rhythm game "in the coming months."

Harmonix has had quite a streak going with new downloadable songs for its widely popular rhythm game Rock Band. This week's technical snafu surrounding Rush's much-anticipated Moving Pictures album notwithstanding, Harmonix has made much of its intent to continue its strong postrelease support in Rock Band 2, which debuts on the Xbox 360 in September and follows on the PlayStation 3, Wii, and PlayStation 2 later in the year.

Today, Harmonix gave gamers a peek at the first batch of full albums that will be digitally reprised for Rock Band 2. As reported by Entertainment Weekly, the first round of full albums includes the Foo Fighters' The Colour and the Shape, the Red Hot Chili Peppers' Blood Sugar Sex Magik, Jane's Addiction's Nothing's Shocking, Megadeth's Peace Sells... But Who's Buying, and Stevie Ray Vaughan's Texas Flood. A No Doubt Best Of compilation is also slated to join the album-length track packs.

Neither Harmonix nor its publisher MTV Games revealed the exact dates on which the aforementioned albums will be rolled out. However, MTV Games did tell EW that they would all be available "in the coming months."

Harmonix expects to have more than 500 songs available for play in Rock Band 2 by year's end. As revealed during this year's E3 Media & Business Summit, more than 80 songs will ship on the game's disc, with headline acts including AC/DC, Guns N' Roses, and Bob Dylan. @chazzx21 - There's nothing wrong with Death Magnetic. it's a great album. but it won't be on rock band since GH3 already has the deal for that album. It'll probably be Puppets or the Black Album. They wouldn't put anything after the black album on their because the "fans" don't like anything past 1991. their loss, IMO.

I wonder if they would consider doing any foreign albums? there are some great bands that don't sing in english. The music is just as great, plus singing in say, japanese, would add a challenge to the vocal aspect.

THE COLOUR AND THE SHAPE! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH!

Moving Pictures is still planned to be released, it's just going to take a while. If TCATS is first, then I'm totally okay with that.

Anyone else planning on getting some Stevie Ray Vaughan? I plan to at least get Texas Flood & Pride and Joy.

Well Gamespot, thanks for not displaying my whole post. I shan't rewrite it. In short the only thing I liked was Foo Fighters and I'm bitter about Rush.

Red Hot Chili Peppers are a tad too corny for my tastes. Foo Fighters =

wumphelm is probably right, but God I'm looking forward to this. I only played it a couple of times, but it didn't like "Suck My Kiss" on GH3 was "too" edited. And that's saying something, every other line of that song has a dirty word/reference. The funny thing about a lot of RHCP's older stuff is you have to listen to it a lot to actually catch a lot of the references. "Little bo-peep comin from my stun gun"

Unless Rock Band is rated "M" for mature, unfortunately I expect a chopped up, highly re-edited Blood Sugar Sex Magik.

My vote is for more "Best Of" compilations. When someone goes to a concert, you don't hear the "filler" material do you? So why is it so fun to play it in a "concert simulator" like RB or GH? While some diehard fans may enjoy some of the filler, the fact remains they would rarely hear it in a live concert.

I still think Best Of... track packs would be better. Not every song in an album is as awesome as the rest. But seeing these albums makes me think differently. Megadeth = hell yeh!

TOOL in this game would just be too much fun, can't expect them to actually give us what we want. I would honestly pay the entire cost of the game all over again to have Undertow, Lateralus, 10,000 days, and Dirt by Alice in Chains. I would probably never play any other games if I had those albums on my box.

I highly doubt there is gonna be a Tool album on Rock Band because of the fact that the band is extremely private. Despite that, its cool how there's gonna be all kinds of stuff like Foo Fighters, No Doubt, RHCP, etc.
