Fallout 3 dropping October 28

Bethesda's anticipated revamp of the classic postapocalyptic role-playing game series will irradiate the PC, PS3, and 360 just before Halloween.

Two weeks ago, Fallout 3 was named the best game of the 2008 E3 Media & Business Summit by the Game Critics Awards. Apparently Bethesda Softworks' long-in-the-making revamp of Interplay's classic postapocalyptic role-playing game series impressed the judges. Amongst its biggest draws were cutting-edge graphics, irreverent humor, and the ultraviolent VATS system, which blends turn-based and real-time combat.

Although the GCA trophy helped generate enthusiasm for Fallout 3, there has been much frustration about the game's vague "fall" release date. Today, though, Bethesda dispelled any clouds of uncertainty by announcing that the game will arrive on the PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3 on October 28 in North America. In Europe and Australia, the game will ship on Halloween (October 31).

Set two centuries after a nuclear war leveled the United States, Fallout 3 begins with players growing up in a bunker deep in the ground outside Washington, D.C. After some brief childhood sequences, the game time-warps to adulthood, when players are tasked with leaving the vault to track down their father, voiced by Liam Neeson (Schindler's List, Star Wars Episode I). Once outside, they must survive among radioactive ruins populated by mutants, ghouls, and merciless, heavily armed human factions.

    Awesome! this is gonna be better than oblivion and shivering isles put together! think oblivion X20 with more blood,gore and guns instead of swords and bows. sweet!

    Just placed my order on amazon For collectors edition of fallout 3 and dead space and my wallet is surprisingly light now

    THANK GOD! i was so pissed that i had to wait till feb 09 for killzone 2 came out but now i have a descent game to tie me over till then, oh and, BETHESDA ROCKS! 4 MORE YEARS! 4 MORE YEARS!>_

    Bethesda will be the true gamers developer of choice, when this launches soon. I'm confident that Fallout 3 will claim back it's throne of Game of RPG's!!

    Game tech changes relatively fast...I agree with Paladin King, when I first played the Fallout games I was pretty much infatuated with those games. Trying to play them now, though, it's a little difficult to stomach on newer PCs. Yea, I may be jaded with good graphics and newer game mechanics, but I'm sure that as soon as I hear Billie Holiday while aiming for the eyes; and the game is even half as open-ended as the originals; that I'll be enthralled all over again.

    honestly, don't feel too bad stereotype14...they were classics and GREAT games but this one's going to be (much to the chagrin of many purists) totally different in pretty much every way.

    This game is going to be awesome! The last two games from Bethesda (Morrowind and Oblivion) were great and this game will continue that trend. Can't wait until October 31st!

    Morrowind yes, Oblivion... not so much; still was a good game though, just not as deep as morrowinds rp content.

    I was so hyped to get Too Human, and from what ive read its a big let down. I hope Fallout 3 doesnt do the same.

    I'll probably beat Fable 2 in a week (it took me a week to beat GTA 4 and play some multiplayer) and then I can get started on Fallout 3 right away.

    I can't wait to play this awesome looking game! It just sucks that Fallout 3, Resistance 2 and LittleBigPlanet are coming out so close to one another... should keep me busy for a while.

    This game is being released at the wrong time.OCT 28 is just a week before Gears 2 is released and then Resistance 2 and Banjo will be released.My advice to Bethesda,they should wait until 09 to release this game.

    This is going to be the highest ranked game of the year that I won't play. To get ready for the game I researched into the previous games and into the content and it really doesn't interest me anymore.

    Man... so many great games coming out this fall... so little time to play all of them! Argggg....

    I'll definitely be getting this game at some point! I dunno if it'll be right at release, I guess it all depends on what other games I'm playing at that moment.

    Interesting, I thought they would go for a release before Fable 2. I know they are different WRPG and fans will buy bought but its still a risk, ofcourse they can always count on PC and PS3 sales if the 360 legion goes for Fable 2.

    I'm still on the fence about Fallout 3. Once reviews start landing, I should have my mind made up on whether or not I'll purchase it.
