Ratchet & Clank Quest for Booty August 21

Insomniac duo's downloadable excursion will arrive on PlayStation 3 online store for $14.99.

Insomniac developers may be pulling all-nighters to finish up work on the company's big holiday release of Resistance 2, but that isn't stopping the studio from offering gamers their annual dose of Ratchet & Clank.

The pair's debut downloadable outing, Ratchet & Clank Future: Quest for Booty on the PlayStation 3, received an exact release date today on GameSpot's latest episode of On the Spot. The smaller-than-usual-size game will arrive on the PlayStation Store August 21, complete with a smaller-than-usual-size price tag: $14.99.

Picking up after the events of Ratchet & Clank Future, Quest for Booty will put a greater emphasis on puzzle-solving and platforming elements. The game will also incorporate a new light-and-dark gameplay mechanic.

    Well, it comes out on Blu-ray if you live in Europe. If not, someone will almost certainly stick an EU Blu-ray copy of the game on eBay or something. Part of me wishes this was going to be a longer game, but then again, we would have to wait at least another year for that until after Resistance 2 is finished, so this should suit me fine for now.

    Two things: one YAY ANOTHER R&C GAME SWEET!!!! Two: Is this game on an physical disk or does one have to Download the WHOLE THING??? If it is a download only thing, then I will be very sad. Dail-up sucks.And that makes it very complicated.......Damn.....

    @jeremiah06, What do you mean it'll only be 2-4hrs long?

  • micmill

    Posted Aug 1, 2008 9:42 am GMT

    Jeremiah, I'm not saying the other 3 games of R&C are bad... I just never was interested in playing them. I only played Tools of Destruction because my wife wanted to check it out (she loves "cartoon" games). I ended up loving it. It really was a great game. I don't think I can go back and play the other R&C games though. I like R&C in HD, couldn't go back to the last gen models...

    @littlesunday:

    Nope 2-4 hours long.

    14.99 actually seems kinda steep for 2-4 hours of gameplay. I could see paying more along the lines of 9.99 for this.

    @micmill:

    What? You just sound dumb, I could see if Tools was the best so far, but the other 3 games were all superior to the PS3 debut. You should really look into playing them.

    I never gave a rats about R&C until I played Tools of Destruction. That was a great game. I am very excited for this to come out... I love the episodic download concept...

    looks like it will be a very fun game. Also sounds like a very worthy quest, in my hirsute opinion.

    I personally have my doubts. With working on Resistance 2 and releasing Quest for Booty in a mere 20 days, you have to wonder how this game will compare with the rest of the R&C series excluding the horrendous "Size Matters" port for PS2.

    I hope they know what they are doing and I also hope that this isn't the future of R&C. *Crosses fingers for Tools of Destruction 2*
