Unreal Engine fuels Ignition FPS
Publisher signs license to use Epic Games' tech in Xbox 360, PS3, and PC game from internal Florida studio.
Last year, Ignition Entertainment announced its expansion into game development with the founding of a new studio in Florida and another in Tokyo. Today, the first details of the publisher's foray into game making arrived when Ignition announced that it has licensed Epic Games' Unreal Engine 3 for the Florida shop's debut game.
Like the engine's namesake, the as-yet-unnamed game will be a first-person shooter. The game will be an original intellectual property and is set for release in late 2009. According to the studio's jobs page, it is in development for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC.
Unreal Engine 3 has proven a popular choice for current-generation game development, having been incorporated by a slew of publishers and studios for games from Gears of War to Hour of Victory.
