Hell's Highway hits road Aug. 26

Latest installment in Brothers in Arms series gets release date for Xbox 360, PS3, and PC.

It's said the path to hell is paved with good intentions, but in the case of Ubisoft's Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway, the primary construction material has been delays. Originally announced for release in 2006, the shooter was pushed back to 2007, then again to early 2008, and once more to Ubisoft's current fiscal year. However, Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway has at long last been given a concrete date.

The publisher today confirmed that Hell's Highway will be available for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC on August 26. Ubisoft had specified an August release window for the game back in April.

As with previous entries in the Brothers in Arms series, the character-driven story will unfold around a series of squad-based missions of the 101st Airborne Division. Set during World War II, the game tracks previous Brothers in Arms protagonists Matt Baker and Joe Harstock through 10 days as they try to secure a stretch of German-controlled road vital to the Allied forces' reinforcement plans.

    Why was the PC version delayed??? I went into HMV to buy it today and but it wasn't there, and wasn't gonna fork out an extra £15 for the PS3/360 version, annoying!

    this game is going to be sick! it will be like band of brothers only in a game format. Road to hill 30 intro was just like band of brothers.

    looks like a cross between MOH & R6 Vegas, which lets face it isnt a bad thing really. I quite like the tactical approach, quite a refreshing change to the normal run-n-gun scenario.

    with call of duty riding its wave of modern combat success back to WW2... I'm real interested if this game can offer anything new and fresh

    Interesting. I can't help but notice that everyone seems to be looking forward to this game. Over in the thread where they were talking about COD5, almost 80% of those posts were "The world doesn't need another WWII game."
    Looking at these post it's certainly evident that there are others, like myself, who don't mind another tour.

    I still can't believe that either Borthers in Arms games are still not compatible with the 360. The first Bothers in Arms game is still one of my favorite FPS from the last generation.

    I am definitely going to buy this. Im not sure for witch system though. probably ps3 but am still undecided. Either way atleast im going to buy it. See you guys online.

    I reckon this is gonna be awesome, especially if like me your a BIG R6 Vegas fan, as the game mechanics are very similar with the cover system etc, which makes for a more tactical & strategic approach as opposed to the mindless run around and shoot it affair that the FPS genre is saturated with. I simply cannot wait for this game.

    This game will be a very welcome addition to the WW2 genre! I am very excited, but what does everyone think of COD5 being set in WW2 again? I really loved the Modern Warfare!

    Ahh, a release date at last. Love the Bioshock - level water effects. Hope they can bring some interesting new mechanics to this (too?) well-worn sub-genre.

    If not....well I' ll just settle for a incremental re-tread with higher production values.

    Agree, this will be good. Good the way the shrapnel flies towards you. Looks one of the best releases this year, just hope it plays as good as the previous games. Fingers crossed.

    FInally this game is coming out, ive been waiting for this game because for one, the WW2, is more interesting, and thestory mode will be for sure very interesting, COD4 single player was pretty lame, though Multiplayer Rocks, theres no Achievements...

    i agree with you guys on the originals, i havent been able to play the first two Brothers in Arms yet, and i would like to have played those on my 360 before the new one comes out.

    Yeah I don't know why they couldn't have made the other games backwards compatible. I haven't gotten to play them since the 360 came out. I was told that all games would be BC. Big talk. Not so much action.
