NWN2 rides Storm of Zehir
Atari and Obsidian Entertainment's D&D-inspired RPG expands for another time on PC with new 15-hour campaign.
Earlier this month, Wizards of the Coast rolled out the 4th Edition rule set to its venerable Dungeons & Dragons pen-and-paper role-playing game. But even with the new 4.0 rules now in play, the 3.5 rule set isn't yet ready for retirement. An Obsidian Entertainment representative confirmed for GameSpot today that its acclaimed Neverwinter Nights 2 PC RPG--based on the older rule set--will expand for a second time with Storm of Zehir.
Details on the second NWN2 expansion have yet to be confirmed in an official capacity, but posts by developers on the Storm of Zehir forums do offer a few details on what gamers can expect. Neverwinter Nights 2: Storm of Zehir will add approximately 15 hours of gameplay, and the game will pull the shape-shifting serpent Yuan-Ti from the Forgotten Realms fantasy universe as the primary antagonists.
Developers also note that Storm of Zehir gameplay will be reminiscent of both the Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale RPGs. In addition to the new storyline, the game will reportedly feature a variety of new classes, spells, monsters, and playable races, and Obsidian also promises improvements to the multiplayer component for both players and modders.
Published by Atari, Neverwinter Nights 2: Storm of Zehir for the PC has not yet been dated.
