Street Fighter IV heads home
Capcom's arcade fighting sequel confirmed for release on PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3; release dates remain unspecified.
The Street Fighter series has never been terribly exclusive, appearing as it has on the TurboGrafx-16, Super Nintendo, Game Boy, Dreamcast, Xbox, and most systems in between. So it comes as no surprise that Capcom's upcoming arcade game Street Fighter IV would eventually find its way to other homes.
The publisher announced today that it will bring Street Fighter IV to the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC. Unfortunately, it did not give any indication as to when the game would arrive on those platforms. Last October, a Capcom representative told GameSpot that the brawler was "more than a year away," although the Japanese arcade edition would eventually be set for a late July debut.
Street Fighter IV is both a departure from and a return to the series' roots. The game eschews the franchise's classic 2D fighting formula in favor of stylized 3D visuals, but the roster of characters includes the entire original cast of Capcom's most successful game of all time, Street Fighter II.
