Bionic Commando Rearmed pushed back

Downloadable remake of Capcom's NES action game will miss May launch target, publisher admits.

Given that this week began with the Memorial Day holiday, it would be an ideal time for Capcom to give gamers a refresher course on its old soldier, Bionic Commando. Unfortunately, that won't happen; today the publisher confirmed that the downloadable PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3 remake of its Bionic Commando NES game will miss its targeted May release window.

According to the "Communicator" section of the publisher's official Web site, "All we can tell you is that the game is done and is more awesome than pure liquid awesome. Our troops right now are in the trenches, battling with bugs and submission procedures."

Rearmed was originally announced for a summer release back in January. No new release date for the project was given. The upcoming revamped retail edition of Bionic Commando is set for launch on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 later this year. Both games are being developed by Swedish studio GRIN.

    It's ok by me if they push it back, I think it's better if they root out the worst bugs before the release.

    I wonder if the 'best' gun in the game will still shoot like trash... I'll probably download it though; it is a favorite NES game of mine... and I wonder if I'll be able to jump this time? I have the needed buttons to map 'jump' to one this time around.

    That's fine.
    I just downloaded echochrome and it looks like that will occupy any game time not still invested in gta4.

    Surprised it won't be on the wiiware; this was originally a nes game. A damn good one too.

    Dang,I was checking on this game and was thinking it'd be coming any day now.I'm a little disappointed but hopefully it'll be ready by fall.

    As long as both games come out THIS year, I'll be happy. I'm in no rush for either, but defintiely want to play them both. I still have the original Bionic Commando for the NES. That game was great fun.

    That sucks!! looking forward to getting it as it was the only reason i bought gamer points. Oh well, better to have no bugs than the product with a bunch of them.

    I'm excited. This game looks great! Hopefully the bureaucracy's don't get in the way and the game is able to be released soon.

    So, exactly why do the remakes end up getting delayed? Is it because so much effort is put into the next installment that they feel the remake will be a quick gloss over? If this is the case, expect all these remakes, no matter how good they were, to suck.

    As long as it's as good as the old one then the wait will be worth it. I bet the 2D version gets better scores than the 3D version.

    I was waiting for word on this subject, because it was getting close and GS really didn't have much coming out for near release. At least this game will be worth it for sure now.

    I think I knew this at the beginning of the month. I expect this to come out sometime during the summer when around Castle Crashers (XBLA game beat-um up made by the guy who made Alien Hominid) comes out.
