Aussie game charts: May 5-May 11
Wii Fit ends Grand Theft Auto IV's reign at the top of the Australian charts.
Despite Grand Theft Auto IV breaking entertainment records around the world, Wii Fit has managed to dethrone Rockstar's open-world actioner from the top of the Australian game charts, according to data trackers GfK Australia. Wii Fit launched around Australia the week immediately after GTAIV, limiting GTAIV's reign at the top to only one week.
Grand Theft Auto IV for the Xbox 360 is at number two, whereas the PS3 version trails behind at number three for the week of May 5 to May 11. Wii Play has retained its spot in fourth from the previous week, but Mario Kart Wii fell two places to number five. Nintendo's popular Dr Kawashima's Brain Training: How Old Is Your Brain? franchise lay claim to both the sixth and seventh positions, respectively. Namco's light-gun shooter for the PS3, Time Crisis 4, has fallen to number eight. Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games on the Wii is more than acquainted with the chart and has managed to maintain its hold over the ninth spot. The last game to make it into the charts is Gran Turismo 5 Prologue at number 10.
In other charts news, the PC chart is still being led by The Sims 2: Kitchen & Bath Interior Design Stuff. This is its fourth week at the top of the PC chart.

Just to play devil's advocate for a moment, I think most people forget that "these analysts" are not paid to make sales projections. Their main job is to predict the market reaction of multiple factors to the value of the stock. I'm sure they don't care MUCH if they are off in numbers, as long as they are correct on the "buy or sell" issue.

...and another analyst bites the dust...so much for the PS3 version of GTA outselling the 360 version...who keeps paying those analysts anyway...

Wow, they have a lot of denominations.
This bodes well for WiiFit in North America.

I paid $113 so i am happy. Wii Fit is sold out in many stores around the country, i knew it would be big but it quite possibly had a bigger first week than GTA (individually not combined). I know more than 50 people who have already picked up Wii Fit and many more who cannot find it (Mario Kart also has some of that problem but that is due to lack of supply).
