Lost Planet: Colonies goes gold

Capcom finishes development on budget-priced redux of Akrid-hunting sci-fi shooter for Xbox 360, PC.

Well over a year after its initial release on the Xbox 360, the frozen wastelands of Lost Planet's multiplayer battlefields may be looking a little barren. However, the killing fields may get a little livelier later this month, because Capcom announced today that Lost Planet: Colonies has gone gold for the Xbox 360 and PC.

Colonies adds a number of new features to both the single-player and multiplayer aspects of the game. Solo gamers will be able to play new Score Attack and Boss Battle modes, as well as an Off Limit Mode that gives players overpowered weapons and grappling hooks. On the multiplayer side, Colonies will introduce four maps, 10 weapons, seven game modes, and five new characters (including Dead Rising protagonist Frank West) to the mix.

Lost Planet: Colonies will retail for $29.99 and is scheduled to ship to retailers on May 27.

I really want to play Lost Planet, I've been holding off on buying it for a while, seems like a good choice now that I can get extra content and not pay that much extra.

lost planet ruled, i used to love the multi-player -which had a huge following online. hope they speed the character movements up, and recovery- as when you go shot at alot and blown up you couldn't do anything about it!

I'd rather see DR2, personally.

Figures that they'll make sequels to whatever crappy Megaman spin-offs they make, but release a sequel to a good game that gains a decently sized fanbase? Logic, Capcom. You're doin' it wrong.

So all this time I was waiting for maybe a sequel to either Dead Rising or Lost Planet, Capcom has only worked on a re-release of just one of them... sonofabiatch!!

Not a bad deal if so.

Frank West is cool shi..stuff. Hopefully his apparence is a hint for More Dead Rising. As far as Lost Planet goes if you haven't played it, you should.

Never played the original, so I might give this a shot. But it seems like everyone isn't to happy about this., at least everyone who bought the game.

No, I don't think so.

Lost Planet is now on three platforms... but Dead Rising -- which is NOT garbage -- stays a 360 exclusive? Where is the logic, Capcom?

I tried the demo...1.5 year ago(?). I wouldn't play this game if you gave it to me for free. The Frank West add on seems funny. They need to make another game with him in it.

I really like the first game and played it a lot, I was just more excited about an actual sequel. Ninja Gaiden 2 is coming out on June 3rd, so I don't know if I'll be looking for other games around that time.

A good bargain of a game if you missed it the first time. I was actually impressed by this game. 3rd person shooting, Jap-Mechs and alien killing - you can't go wrong.

I wonder what are the other 4 characters. Anyways, I might buy this game cuz it has boss battle modes (I wish DMC 4 had it) and score attack and plus few more weapons.

I think rehashes really destroy a franchise slowly but surely. Work on an Lost Planet 2 and stop trying to rush out a half @ZZ game and think it's gonna be a blockbuster. I love Capcom to death and Lost Planet was a pretty decent game but put more of your resources into a sequel rather than some update and new maps that probably resemble more of the same. Anyways, I'll probably get it just to get it.

sigh....just do Lost Planet 2 and stop trying to re-hash it, it's getting tedious.

Good game.

But in typical Capcom fashion, they don't leave it alone. Rehashing too much. Mega Man Battle Network also suffered from the same fate after initial success.
