Burnout Paradise crashing PCs
First-ever computer edition of Criterion racing series gets a tune-up to multiplayer and online features.
It's not often that games are actually designed to dramatically increase instances of crashing on the system, but that's the desired effect of Electronic Arts and Criterion Games' newly announced PC edition of Burnout Paradise.
Originally released earlier this year for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, Burnout Paradise will arrive on the PC with a few after-market enhancements. For the series' first test-drive outside the world of handhelds and consoles, Criterion is expanding the game's multiplayer modes and adding "enhanced online features and community-driven content."
In a webcast on Criterion's official Web site, developers assured console gamers that the PC edition would not impact the release schedule for the already announced updates to the console versions of the game. A series of updates scheduled through the fall will add night driving, motorcycles, new locations, and more to the game.
Burnout Paradise has not been rated for the PC, but the console editions received an E10+ for Everyone 10 and Older. No release date has been announced for the game.

Burnout is a good game, borrowed it for 360 from friend, but I won't buy it, especially not on PC.

I was thinking of buying a PC upgrade, but I decided to buy a PS3 instead, one of the reasons being Burnout. Now, I think I'll go with the PC upgrade again

Time to dust off my Logitech Rumblepad II
I played one of the Burnout's on a PS2 one day in a shop and it made me want a PS2... funny as I don't generally like car games and I've been a PC exclusive gamer for about 25 years! Burnout is just so much fun... I don't often like car games due to my inclination to crash... works out nicely in Burnout though. With Mass Effect allready announced for PC I'm just waiting for GTA4... not a fan of the GTA series, but the new one looks amazing...

great new, now Criterion, just put it on steam and I will buy it. I don't like game boxes wasting space, and they are just asking to be sold sitting there unused.

Just plug a wired 360 or PS3 controller into your PC's USB port. Let Windows fetch the drivers. Presto, dual analog/trigger racing controller. Or use the wireless kit for PC and your existing 360 wirelesss controller.
It's really not difficult to turn your PC into a very comfortable multi-genre games machine, especially when you're using the same peripherals you love to use on console. What if your PC is too weak to use a big widescreen monitor? Heck, use your 720p/1080i TV. Your weak PC might not be able to handle 1920x1200, but it should be great at 1280x720 (720p), right? Use your imagination. PC gaming can be made to accommodate so many configurations.

jidar, can I know what forum is this? Sin-of-mosin, certain vehicles in GTA (san andreas at least) is easier with a pad. Psychonauts is another game I find impossible with a keyboard.

Yeah, cool news, i would like to suggest to Criterion, to release Burnout Paradise at digital distribution, you know, EA online store, Direct2Drive, and many others, for a more accesible buying system; now wating for the release date and system reqs.

I'll probably get it on it's first day of release. Flatout 2 was a great PC racing game. Burnout Revenge was fun on the 360. Paradise should be loads of fun on the PC.

Great news. This is one of the few game franchises I've always considered as the best consoles can offer. I can finally play on my PC. First Mass Effect now Burnout. Great

this is a very poor choice for an article title. Someone posted a link to this from a forum where they and several people responding all were talking about Burnout being buggy and crashing machines. It was several posts in before I actually bothered to read the article and see the mistake.

I can't see playing this game on my 17in PC monitor. How many people are going to get this for their PC? I think the last racing game I played on my PC was either an old NFS game from the late 90's or a Test Drive game. It was horrible using the keyboard to control the cars and the D-Pad on a controller was the worse. I didn't have an analog controller at the time. Anyway, I'll never play another racing game on my PC. I'm still waiting for GTR to come to the 360.

Arcade (non-sim) games are usually more keyboard friendly (like PC GTA's driving), but this game is FAST!!!! Oh well, Xbox 360's game pad (for PC) isn't too expensive and that work well enough, right?

You know what, i agree with larlarbd totally. Plus where do u think most gamers started, on either old consoles (NES) and old PC's (C64). At least i know thats where I started. And yes. I have owned a few consoles over the years (NES [which i still have btw] SNES, PS1, N64 and i currently own a Gamecube). But I also own a high powered PC here.
Yes, it ticks me off that most of the big name games go direct to console and then come out on PC anymore (save for Blizzard) But with out PC games, you would have never even gotten some of the great games that are out there today for consoles. Why? Because most of the Dev's out there now started making games on PC.

As an avid Burnout Freak AND a PC gamer I really doubt if this game will be playable with a keyboard. The Burnout series has always been reliant on analog thumbsticks, to port it to the PC the developers would have to tone down the game's insane level of speed...but I digress.

usmanthegreat's comments are a mirror of my own, but from a PC gamer perspective... the PC dont get many exclusives as virtually all the great PC games end up on the consoles... hell some PC games end up as console games with PC port at a later date (GTA was a PC game originally) .
Battlefield was a PC game as well, havent heard of BF:Bad Company coming to PC .
Then again after saying all that Racing was never my genre, so the idea of getting some racing leftovers from the console is not appealing.

@usmanthegreat , chill man - I have Burnour Paradise on 360 , but I have a good configuration PC which would run this already grogeous game to the max , I''d like to see a PC version , why not ? what's wrong with sharing a game with already great PC community ? although I have a PS3 & 360 & a Wii , I still play more PC games than those three combined - it's a personal prefference - PC gamers are always getting ignored , when ppl should remember PC is the mother of all gaming .........

@usmanthegreat: All video games are produced on PC's. Hating PC gaming is biting the hand that feeds you. Having said that, I am with Travis281, -I too prefer consoles for racing games.

Chill usmanthegreat, some people prefer PC gaming I guess. I prefer consoles for racing games, but there's no need to get upset at Criterion for expanding their audience.

k_m82, the motorcycle part will only be offline when it first comes out just so people can get a feel for it before they unleash them against the cars. And you'll also have to buy the motorcycle update, codenamed "Davis". But give them a month, they'll probably have cycle vs car races in the "Eastwood" update.
