iMPACT! delayed until September
Midway's TNA Wrestling game will spend a few more months in development before stepping into the retail ring.
Wrestling fans have a few extra months to brace for TNA iMPACT!, as Midway today announced that its debut title with the wrestling league's license won't launch until September. Originally set to debut last year, the game will be released on the Xbox 360, Wii, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation 2.
Featuring a mix of former WWE talents, standouts pulled from the independent circuit, and homemade stars, TNA originated as a pay-per-view-only wrestling series in 2002 and has since expanded to include weekly shows on Spike TV. A full roster of wrestlers to be included in the game has not yet been released, but Midway has confirmed the following:
Abyss
AJ Styles
Alex Shelley
Booker T
Chris Sabin
Christian Cage
Christopher Daniels
Eric Young
Hernandez
Homicide
Jay Lethal
Jeff Jarrett
Kurt Angle
Rhino
Samoa Joe
Scott Steiner
Sting
Tomko
TNA iMPACT! is currently being developed at Midway's LA studio, which previously worked on Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks. Before it was acquired by the publisher, it was known as Paradox Development, creators of the Backyard Wrestling series of games.
