EA marches Zubo to DS

Publisher bringing tween-targeted rhythm action game to Nintendo's handheld this fall.

Last Friday, Ubisoft revealed its latest attempt to woo the tween demographic, announcing that it would be returning to the rhythm genre with Imagine Rock Star, an arcade-style music game slated to arrive for the Nintendo DS this June. Today, Ubisoft partial owner EA said it would be targeting a similar sect with Zubo, a "music-based rhythm-action game" aimed at boys and girls under 12 that is expected to arrive exclusively for the DS this fall.

A product of EA's Casual Entertainment Label, Zubo promises a rhythm action game experience that sounds not entirely unlike Sony Worldwide Studios' recently released Patapon, where players will dictate battles by tapping their stylus in time with the music. Tykes will be posited as the head of the fanciful Zubalon army and must use the whimsical Zubos to battle the megalomaniacal forces of the Zombas.

Players will be able to collect and strengthen 55 different Zubos, and the game also packs in a number of minigames. Zubo is being developed by EA's Bright Light studio in Guildford, UK.

EA are really running out of ideas. They've taken 'MySims' called them something else and made it into a rhythm game. Unfortunatly, as usual I'm tempted to get this game

Well I'm guessing since its aimed at kids under 12 and I'm 20, I probably shouldn't be caught buying it.... Lol.

Patapon is awesome, so hopefully this won't just be a DS clone of that game.

Zubo looks almost cool. And sort of like Opoona.
