this will be my first next gen sports game. I will get the bundle. I don't think all the madden haters will affect EA. They got a product set in stone that is indeed dwindling and aging, but scores of fans will still flock to the product. PS: I got madden 08 on ps2 and I hated it too.

What! No release for the PC? I have really enjoyed the original HC and was excited when I heard that they were releasing a new version. Then I find out that I have to buying Madden to get it. Okay, I hate arcade sport sims cuz I suck at them but It might have been worth the $50 premium to play a game I enjoy. Only on next gen consoles? That is the long bomb into not worth it territory. Maybe EA will release it for PC later. I can always hope.

YES!!!! finally i always say that people need custom playbooks!!!!! mainly cause i am somewhat run-heavy, and have started getting into passing the ball around, and the chargers dont have a 5 wr set.

EA does suck, but madden 08 was great. now you get a coaching game for 30 dollers. that is sweet. about the only thing that they can do to make madden better is halftime shows and on field interviews. thats not a very long list.

I don,t like ea, but there is no way i can say this is bad!! I mean if you don,t want head coach don't buy the bundle if you want them both then this is for you... And why be so hard on EA about there football because all-pro2k8 is not the best they both have there ups & downs...

EA does suck...I still can't believe they call it a "football Sim" when I can run up the gut and the tackling animation gets me 5-7 yards everytime...horrible. Lets just bomb it to devin hester everytime and complete a pass...horrible, or play online when everyone is either the patriots or the colts...horrible. I wont buy this game until there is open competition again.

Was anyone really thinking when they were commenting negatively? Pretty much everyone who will buy Head Coach will buy Madden as well so this actually comes as a discount considering they could sell them both separately. If you don't like Head Coach then don't get it...that simple. For those of us that do want it, it's a simple $30 add-on along with the other game it interacts with.

this is GREAT!!! i can import my playbook into a franchise mode that will never get past season 1.... W00000ooooooooOOOOOOooo.... you'd think after letting madden fans down in so many ways with madden08. they'd at least throw this crappy add on game for free.. EA is horrible, and as they take over all the other gaming companies, we all will get to enjoy a state of mediocraty in gaming standards.. way to go EA.. way to squeeze another couple of bucks out of your customers and fanbase

lol... I like the 1984 reference, yeah I think even old die-hard Madden Fans like myself are getting really turned off by EA... I'm just going to keep playing Madden 05 on my PS2 until EA gets their act-together again (which may be never)...

i remember reading this book called 1984 by george orwell. in the book this imaginary character named "big brother" owned oceana. he lied to all the normal people and did lies to make them love him.

for example, he would cut the "chocolate ration" people of oceana used to get weekly. Then 2 weeks later, he would put the chocolate ration back to normal, BUT announced that he put more for the good of the people. the stupid people believed him.

Has everyone noticed how features keep getting silenty stripped from Madden? Now you know why. They've been collecting them to try and fleece their customers for two purchases a year, that should have been included in a single game. Here's hoping Backbreaker turns out to be a good game, and not the rubbish APF 2k8 was.

I love Madden I think it is the best football game ever made period, but Head Coach was horrible and now EA is just trying to force feed us Head Coach just to make it sell. I might buy it just for the extra content but when August 12 come, I'm defintely getting Madden 09, whether it be stand alone or not.

Not only are they (EA) packaging this game with MAdden since it likley wouldn't sell and making people pay for it, it also seems like they are desperate for filling in the so called extra content on this over hyped 20th edition or whatever they are calling it... I used to play Madden in the early 90's and thought it was good then. The next gen iterations are a rip off. I remember when they dropped madden on the next gen systems they pretty much dropped a majority of the features that had built into the franchise over the years and turned around and charged $60. They basically did a reset on the feature list so they could come back the follwong year and tout all the 'new' stuff that was added that was in fact already in the previous generation. Man they make me sick to my stomach with this Madden machine, really.

Makes me wonder, does anyone keep or play two real new years of Madden? It has all these features and things to do in the off season, but does anyone just play 1 season and then save the game till next season starts then do the off season stuff and then continue on with the same version, or just do what I do and buy the next years version? Just something about playing as your favorite team on the same date and schedule at the real NFL teams are. (did that sound right) Anyway, I keep buying and playing each year. What happens to all the past seasons disks? Landfills full of nothing but several year old Madden copies...

I think that all of the Madden lemmings posting here, whose names I won't mention, are missing the point.

For the most part, people have not been complaining on this topic about how bad Madden is, these complaints are directed towards the fact that EA has packaged the play editor, which should be in Madden itself, into HC. So the only way for someone to make their own plays, is to spend $30 on HC, which most people probably were never going to get.

I will leave criticism for Madden for another day. I'm sure I will get ample opportunity as soon as they get the courage to finally show something of 09 lol. For now, all you Madden lemmings, please take your EA colored glasses off and understand that EA is purposely leaving out features that we had almost 10yrs ago, and packaging it with an add-on, that they knew, based on the first HC's sales, would not sell well.

Do you understand now, or this too complicated for you?!

That's actually a better idea. Just include Head Coach in Madden 2010 and release it for $59.99. I have no plans on getting Madden 09 at all. I may pick up Madden 08 for $20 on Ebay later in the year, but that's about it. I'll never buy a full priced EA game ever again.

Dude, it's the same story every year. "More features added, etc". It's the SAME GAME...YEAR AFTER YEAR. I honestly thought '08 reallly WAS going to be a big step forward for the franchise but you know what was different??? Now the players had icons above their heads. That was it. It didn't look any better than Madden '03 or '04 did. It's the SAME GAME!!!! I'm sick of it. If EA ever rebuilds the game up instead of swapping features in and out, MAYBE I will consider picking it up again, but for now, I'm done.

It's the planned obsolescence that's bothersome - a $90 game package should retain some kind of consumer value in a year - Madden 07 is $10, Madden 08 will be as soon as Madden 09 releases - like clockwork we get the updates.

I can't say that it's "the same game" every year, I wouldn't know, I don't play it, and I'd fathom many of the people who complain don't either. I'm sure some do, and I'll take their word - do we get $60 worth of updates every year? I can't say - but no matter how great a series is, I could not stand to play a new version every year.

Square-Enix is doing this with Final Fantasy VII now, and even with new content it's annoying, so I cannot imagine the frustration of sports fans.

I'm a tournament Madden killer and I can tell you that Madden needs a lot of work. Too many glitches. Designing your own plays is cool, but some blue eyed kid is going to find a glitch and exploit it....again. Can't EA produce a decent Madden game that is more simulator than it is street?

This is why I hope EA fails to take over Rockstar. They are very greedy. when a competitor 2k made a football game that was very good and cheaper then theirs they Monopolize the entire NFL franchise. After 2k All Pro Football failed to put a dent in their rule over football EA is feeling its oats and charging us more for extras. I'm not a football fan but I did think the NFL shouldn't have given away the ability to make NFL games from others. It didn't seem fair and we lost the right to choose which game we want to play. I don't hate EA I just don't care for Monopolies.

Personally I'd rather EA give annual team and player stat downloads instead of rehashing the same game every year and charging $60 bucks for it. They have no incentive to really improve Madden after buying sole rites to publish NFL games. 2k isn't around anymore to keep price checks on Madden anymore so they can charge whatever they want. umm yeah we played it- same as 07. The sales have nothing to do with the fact that they cant even get the simple things right, such as framerate (for ps3, 360). I don't think anyone wants anything crazy or out of this world, just a classically good madden game that doesn't have cheap omissions that were automatic inclusions in the past. Its been said over and over that the games will be bought regardless of how good they are, so mentioning sales is pointless especially when they have an exclusive license with literally no competition .
