Wacky Races boosts onto DS, Wii

Eidos announces plans to resurrect the popular cartoon into a new video game coming this June.

It might be hard to believe, but Wacky Races first aired in 1968. The initial 17-episode airing featured 11 cars competing in a variety of challenges with the aim of becoming "The World's Wackiest Racer."

The series featured characters including the villains Dick Dastardly and his dog Muttley, Penelope Pitstop, and The Gruesome Twosome, all battling for the title. Dick Dastardly would always concoct an elaborate plan to win, which would inevitably backfire.

Now all fans of the original series--or one of the repeat showings over the years--will be able to play the game on the Wii and DS this June. Titled Wacky Races: Crash & Dash, the action racing game will feature all the original characters and cars. Gamers will race across a variety of cross-country courses filled with pitfalls and power-ups.

I hope that it's ends up being good, but I also fear that everyone will forget this once Mario Kart Wii comes out

I liked the show and always thought it could make a good kart racer however I think it will be like all Mario Kart ripoffs and be a sloppy, ugly mess like that M&Ms racing game.

It probably won't hold a candle to Mario Kart Wii (or Mario Kart DS for that matter) but I'm sure fans of the show will be delighted to have it. I did enjoy that show when reruns were aired on Cartoon Network. Dick Dastardly and Muttly was truly one of my favorite comedic villains. And yes, I see the resemblance between Dick and Waluigi.

I have the Wacky Racers DVD with all the episodes on it. I also have the Dreamcast game as well. It was a decent game, but nothing spectacular. It's pretty hard to find now.

haha, I remember this game from the dreamcast, it was actually pretty fun.
I don't think if I'd really want to pick it up again though, unless it's a huge improvement on the first one.

If you put an image of Dick Dastardly next to one of Waliugi, you're gonna see how the look alike. Anyway, I'd like to buy this game because kart games are great for the DS.

If they do this right then it might just beat Mario Kart DS.

could be fun. mind you it could be made so similar to mario kart that it wont even be worth looking at. maro kart will always be number 1 in this type of racer

Well, I mean Dick Dastardly was the one always chasing the pigeon, in that weird spin off series of Wacky Races where the other storyline involved the Ant Hill mob gang trying to protect Penelope Pitstop from her evil Lawyer (the Claw!). Man... that was so ridiculously weird...

Anyways Mario Kart ripoff, which will not perform well, considering Mario Kart is already on the DS and will be on the Wii and will likely be better tuned and superior overall, as well as the fact that very few people these days will recognize 'The Ant Hill Mob Gang'. Muttley and Dick Dastardly are probably the only two familiar faces for most.

"Chases the pigeon?" Not only is that an absurdly obscure reference, it references the wrong cartoon entirely!

Oh, and the game will bomb.

Edit: And again, they edit the article to make my comment look dumb.

this game will just get lost in the Mario Kart craziness this summer. It would bode well for that company developing this game to push that game back.
