Dead Space lifts off this Halloween

EA promises gamers a treat this Halloween with its sci-fi horror set to arrive on October 31 for Europe and North America.

Dead Space

See Dead Space in all its gory glory.

Today, EA officially dated Dead Space for Europe and the US: The game is to burst out onto the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 this Halloween, October 31. As an extra treat, EA released the first official trailer for the Resident Evil-meets-Alien sci-fi survival horror title along with the announcement of the date.

For those unfamiliar with Dead Space, the game takes place 500 years from now in deep space. A team of soldiers and support personnel, including the game's protagonist, Isaac Clarke, are sent to investigate the lack of communication from the mining vessel USG Ishimura--a "Planet Cracker"-class ship capable of stripping an entire planet of its resources.

It appears that while harvesting a planet, the Ishimura has inadvertently knocked on the wrong door. Isaac will have to fight for his life against hostile aliens that have already managed to decimate the ship's crew and are intent on doing the same to him.

For more details on Dead Space, see GameSpot's previous impressions.

This game has lots going for it, if it somehow gets a bad review then EA is a bunch of retards.

I cannot get it sorry! I have a lot of games to get ( I don't have enough money to buy this game , I cannot spend 500 dollars on gaming in just 1 quarter of the year , if it gets an amazing review then I will have 10 % of getting the game , sorry EA ! (I might rent it)

I hope he's not the only character alive. IMO it would be pretty boring to not be able to interact with any characters.

@hovanPS3. (So many games coming out in the winter...WHY DOES NOTHING EVER COME OUT DURING SUMMER?!?) Summer is a slow time for games. More people go out and do things in the summer. Not alot of people buy games in summer. So right around the So right about the end of 3rd Q starts New games some out, and people start to stay in more. Also School is going on and Then Dec 25th is in peoples minds. I dont know about you guys.... I like to game. I even make them. But I really like summer time. Thats when them girls run around in well, not much. Just dont tell my wife that. Girls, Girls, Girls. Yah, This game looks cool. But I hate E.A. So I wont buy it. It's just my way of telling them where to go..

Alone in the dark looks like a kiddy game compared to this.
The thing I dislike about games like this is they are based entirely on monsters popping out and scaring the **** out of you, which is fun for a while but sometimes gets ridiculous, and also the replay value is pretty low.

Looks like a great game for sci fi horror/thiller shooter. i enjoy single payer games but would be nice if there was a co-op aspect to this game. Being able to work together with friends in this setting and adding the possible tension from human teamates into the mix IMO would make this game a must buy for me.

The EA press release did happen to neglect mentioning that the PC release of this game will coincide with the console release date of October 31st. So for all my brethren that are the ultimate PC "Master Race," do not feel left out of the fun.

Holy @#$%!!!!!!That looks like a good horror game, but what the hell.Just like Doom 3(well,not literally),I wouldn't buy it simply because my 360's in the basement and I don't want to die of a frikkin' heart attack.I'm not denouncing the game, looks like it's doing alright graphics-wise but sheesh, the closest thing to a horror game that I could sit down, play, and not become like the people onscreen is Deadrising, and that game makes zombies look like idiots, fun to run through them with that one lawnmower...

the video was ok imo. but i am not gonna base my opinion on an early video. what i've read so far this could be one of those rare new IP's by EA thats worth owning by the early looks of it!

Why does every game have to be "groundbreaking" in order for it to be a good game? If it's fun, then it's fun, whether it introduces something new or not.

Hell, FPSers have been the same since the 90s.

Any of my future purchases of EA products depends if they acquire Take-Two Interactive (mainly 2K Sports). Dead Space does look interesting but I will not support a greedy company that can't compete with others, so they buy out their competition.
