PSP God of War sporting gold Chains
Kratos' first portable adventure sallies forth to the factory, due out in North America March 4.
Lately, the PlayStation Portable has been getting more attention for its multimedia capabilities such as Skype VoIP functionality than its games. That will soon change, though, as one of the platform's highest-profile games to date has gone gold.
This afternoon on the official PlayStation Blog, Ready at Dawn senior producer Eric Koch announced that development of God of War: Chains of Olympus is complete. With its gold master now en route to the factory, nothing stands in the way of the $39.99, M-for-Mature-rated game arriving in North America on Tuesday, March 4.
Chains of Olympus is the third installment in the critically lionized God of War series, which began on the PlayStation 2 in 2005 and returned to the console in 2007. However, as outlined in GameSpot's previous coverage, it is set prior to its two predecessors, and follows the unstoppable Spartan warrior Kratos' rampage after his family is killed. The series will continue with God of War III, which is currently in development for the PlayStation 3.

Oh yea, First time Ive been so hyped up about a PSP game. Finished gow 1 and 2 on all difficulties like 20 times each. Cant wait for Ninja Gaiden DS as well, MORE BLOOD, YAY!!!! Hey Dual Mask, god of war 2 plays fine on my 60GB PS3 and since the 80GB model is BC, it will play fine. The game compatibility issues are fixed through system updates. So far, my PS3 played all the PS2 games I have (and I have many). Even without the updates, god of war 2 has always worked on the BC PS3s, I guess.

Here we go with the 'DS IS FUN' reason again. So original sounding isn't it? PLEASE Nintendo I''m on my knees here. Make a serious game or even better make a good, mature game without the same mascots you've been churning since like you existed?
Anyway on topic I have been a very proud PSP owner since day 1 and this will be a perfect start to the year along with the imminet release of Crisis Core overshores.

The DS is a fine system, but games like this are why I still prefer the PSP. You simply can't get a better gaming experience without sitting down at your console or PC.

I played the demo for this and it does look and feel pretty good. I look forward to trying it out.
Anyone know if GoW 2 is playable on the 80GB PS3? I'd like to know before I try because I never had the chance to play it before my PS2 died.
(Oh, and the DS is a fine game system too, and not just for kids. I had to put that in there. So what it doesn't have a lot of M-rated games? It still has loads of fun and engaging ones, of all ESRB ratings--which, by the way, have no impact on the quality of a game.)

"Though, that's some nice spoiler control Gamespot. For anyone that has yet to play the first one, you've ruined a pretty huge plot point." HOW and WHY they are killed is what should not be spoiled, that's a big part of the plot. not that they were killed. I wonder if this game will recap that part of the story though. Because if you don't know WHY and HOW, then the events in this one might not make a lot of sense.

It would be sweat if they put this on the PSN, so I could just download it and play it on my PS3, but I know it would never happen, this game is a PSP seller.

(In Peter Griffin's voice): Da, Da Da Daaaaaaaaaa Da, Da Da... Da, Da Da Daaaaaaaaaa Da, Da Da!... Anyways, this will be all kinds of goodness! I don't own a PSP, I own a PS3; but between the downloading of games and movies, Battlefront on the PSP, accessing my PS3 via wi-fi for the PSP, Jax and Dexter, Killzone, and now GoW... you won me over, Sony... come to papa!

Hopefully God of War will enter the PSP for good. The franchise has proven to be so successful that there appears to be space for further creative ideas at the PSP realm. Considered one of the biggest SCEA product franchises GoW has the potential to continue growing. One of my only comments related to the franchise is that: THERE SHOULD HAVE BEEN A GoW title ready by 2007 for the PS3. Not having this until 2009 is n ot showing enough support for the early stages of the PS3 console life span. Back on the PSP topic... the little SO POWERFUL PSP console needs to have MORE games of this caliber. With so much raw power, ready at dawn will once more prove why they have been so successful with PSP games: Daxter and now GoW. Hopefullt more studios will take on the challenge to make great games for the little, but powerful console which more and more people are growng to love these days.
