Multiplayer mix-up leads to EA refund offers for MOHH2 in Australia

EA offers Australian gamers full refund on Medal of Honor Heroes 2 for the Wii after removing multiplayer component.

When Medal of Honor Heroes 2 for the Nintendo Wii hit retail shelves in Australia last week, it brought with it plenty of confusion about an apparent lack of online multiplayer support. Just five days later, EA is offering an unconditional refund to all Australian consumers who purchased a copy of the game.

An official statement issued by the company confirms the rumoured scrapping of 32-player multiplayer support for the Wii console, despite the inclusion of the feature in both the North American and European markets. "Medal of Honor Heroes 2 for Wii does not support online functionality in Australia. We made an error in the documentation and marketing materials. We are very sorry to have caused confusion for our customers. We will provide a refund to anyone in Australia who wishes to return the game to EA because of the lack of online functionality," the statement said.

An EA spokesperson declined to comment on the reasons for the removal of multiplayer, or whether the feature could potentially be patched into the game for customers wishing to keep their copies of the game.

you have got to be kidding, i was going to buy it the other week but didnt because i left most of my money at home lol looks like i will have to wait a bit for the multiplayer one to come out.

what happened to the gaming companies? they are starting to care less about PAL region like the UK and Aus, and leaving them at low priority like we get games 3 months after NTSC regions do, or changng the game for the regions. no wonder so many people get modification chips for the playstations, wiis etc so they can play NTSC games while the rest of australia has to wait

Takara_Kitsune and DonutTrooper: Thank you. It seems that people overseas also see how crap some things are here. They also seem to realise that there is no reason why we can't get these sorts of things in Australia. Why can't EA?

i'm going to buy this game from the UK. why the hell do aussies always get screwed over in gaming? do EA seriously realise how much money they've lost by screwing aussie gamers around? no way can they charge full price for a game that's missing its main part that everybody was buying it for.

EA stand up and admit you've screwed over aussie gamers - AGAIN

Tried this game on the psp. it was not great. The first one was good. online was good and it had deathmatch against bots, which is now gone,

I would never get it for the wii.

import would be the only choice, i guess EA would notice why sales in Europe would be alot better than australia's...

btw didn't Nintendo at last years E3 made alot of suppport to this title for the wii zapper, controls and online function to begin with?

Oh wow. A refund. You shouldn't have, EA. That's really big of you.

I have a better idea though. How about actually including a feature in a game that the rest of the world got you morons?

I was considering buying this game. You won't be getting a cent from me now.

This has to be the worst thing EA has done to the Wii owners, other then making bad games (Vanguard..) But to remove the THING on a game, that's just unforgivable.

A refund isnt good enough. Its an absolute joke that we don't get multiplayer. I personally didnt plan on buying the game but its unfair for all the people who bought the game because they wanted to enjoy the multiplayer component. Other shooters on other consoles (eg halo 3 and cod4) have no problems so why did moh get changed. EA are a joke.

and bunyipbrown the retail on games are around $100 - $120 but jb hifi amongst other stores have most new releases at $79 - $89 which isnt bad

I think we (the whole gaming population) owes it to Australia to host a major gaming convention like E3 down there or something. They've gotten such a short end of a stick for so long some are wondering if there's anything to hold onto anymore.

Wow. Medal of honor heroes 2 would be pretty crap without wifi multiplayer. I don't live in Australia anymore, and the gaming market down under blows. GAMES ARE LIKE $110 DOWN THERE.

Why does Australia always get the crap end of the deal? Microsoft and Sony screw up, and now EA screws them over with MOHH2? It sounds like Australia has bad luck when it comes to gaming.

I used to love EA back in the days of the Mega Drive/Genesis. Since then a lot of things have changed. I don't like EA anymore. I try to avoid purchase EA games.I don't live in Australia, but the lack of online multiplayer there for MOHh is pretty lame.

Wow. And I thought EA did bad things with games they released in the first place... but this is so not cool. I live in the US, so I can't complain much about what comes here, which is a lot more than Australia gets... but seriously, if you go and release a game in Australia, a country that misses a lot of games... DO NOT take features out of it. I can't even begin to fathom how they came up with such a stupid idea. For shame, EA... I'm so glad I don't buy your games... I don't support organizations that discriminate like that. >.> (Or organizations that put out crappy rehashes of the same game every year, either.)
