Actually, the Deus Ex bit is incorrect, Postal 2 can be beaten without killing anybody.

I also read about in the book that theres going to be a Guinness World Records game by TT(Travellers Tales). DOUBLE SWEET!!!!! I wonder if it will be a good game. We will just have to wait & see.

I may have to make a call to their official office after this. Does anyone know of an official source where Miyamoto actually stated this? I've looked everywhere but have yet to turn up more than an unsourced internet rumor on the subject.

When you look at things realistically, Legend was a limited release in Europe in October 1985, whilst The Legend of Zelda was released February 1986, meaning Miyamoto would've had to have physically been in Europe to see this movie and travel back to Japan to develop The Legend of Zelda from scratch in a mere 4 months. Even excluding this somewhat ambiguous rumor, Miyamoto himself said his inspiration came from his childhood experiences in Kyoto exploring the local fields and caves and getting lost in the myriad of sliding doors in his home.

Aside from this one erroneous error, the book still looks quite Guinness-esque and will definitely bring to light some of the most obscure and tucked in the corner statistics in the gaming world.

WHERE IS FALLOUT??!!

This is a very neat initiative. Some of the cynics, as expected, tagged this as a useless compilation of information. I say it's very useful.. Why, you can pump up for some Trivial Pursuit, be a hit at your next geek summit, and, most importantly, it reminds you of those little games that people often take for granted.

I wonder if there is any mention of sleeper hits and cult classics like Fallout, Herzog Zwei, Tegel's Mercenaries, Laser Squad, and Desert Commanders.. These are games that were WAY ahead of their time!

One thing is for sure: I am definitely hankering to play Castlevania: SOTN now. I may just buy it for XBLA and have my little rare fanboy moment. BTW, Castlevania: POR is GREAT. I haven't beaten the last boss yet, just cause I want to run around and look for more secrets, on my own, first. I've uncovered about 99.1% of the map.. That .9% is killing me! Lulz

Seriously though - its not hard to get the score... at all. Its an age-old thing.

What you do is in the marble zone (2nd level) after you hit the checkpoint, you go underground, collect rings and extra life by the block in the lava (you go inside the wall).
Go across the lava, push the block in the lava, travel along the lava across the block to the top.
Over the hills, down and into underground again, bust the blocks without missing any, drop to the lower bit holding right - continue busting blocks for 1000 points a piece - there is about 15 or so blocks.

Do this for a good few hours and you can save whenever you like, just do this for an hour a day. Save the game, exit back to dashboard and your score updates to the insane score of 9999990...

Its hardly a world record... anyone can do it... infact... 23 or so people have done it. I thought records were about unique feats!! Like Shenmue being the most expensive videogame to create (at the time).

I would rather read wikipedia.. I hought this was a proper book about some genuinely good feats like "most nes cartridges that fit into someones mouth.." lol.

The highest score i ever got from when i got the game when i was 4, was a little over 2 million and i thought that was amazingly high. This should be a great read though, i'll probably pick it up.
