Koei confirms Persona 3 for Europe

The latest game in the Shin Megami Tensei series is officially set for a February release date.

It looks as if 2008 is going to be a good year for role-playing game fans. Not only are Fable 2, Lost Odyssey, and Final Fantasy XIII supposedly due, but Japanese PlayStation 2 game Persona 3 has just been confirmed for European release.

Due for release on February 29, Persona 3 is a unique role-playing experience: a combination of a Japanese dating sim and a standard RPG with some odd touches.

During the day, players must work on relationships and make choices at their school, and these decisions will strengthen and expand the variety of Personas that they can call on during the "hidden hour." The hidden hour is the time between one school day and the next, and it's when the demons come out to play.

Personas are summoned in battle by shooting oneself in the head, which is just one of the strange twists in this PS2 title. The Persona series has so far sold over one million copies in Japan, and this is the first to make it to Europe.

    @ rumor_persona...I know what you mean. I had to pre-order Odin Sphere(I'm glad I did) so I wouldn't pay $100 on ebay.

    This is great news!!! I have played half the game and its very amazing. Ive played all the Shin Megami Tensei games and P3 is one of the best.

    These cult-ish RPG titles usually do suprisingly well in the UK.

    And I can play it on my PS3 as well, great!

    I live in Brazil and I'm really happy because I've got P3 at launch from Play-Asia and latter discovered that the game is now hard to find. I've missed Nocturne and Digital Devil Saga 1. Now I know that I have to buy Atlus games A.S.A.P., pre-order them, if possible. Fortunately I've already got DDS 2 and SMT: Devil Summoner too.

    damn it really never came out in the us. I cannot find it anywhere i guess shen megami games are really hard to find! must be worth a lot of money.

    Im still waiting for Gamespot to finally announce the fact that the game is also coming to Australia at the end of March... and review Dragonball Z Budokai Tenkaichi 3 which came out months ago.

    When the entire world falls under the same licensing laws, main spoken language and other legal jurisdictions. That's when we will all get it at the same time, with the same stuff.

    I hope this comes with the cd/book! If not that sucks balls. We got the art cards and cd for Digital Devil Saga 2.

    A bit late. I imported this some time ago.

    It is great though, worth getting. And no, you don't need to have played the earlier ones, as far as I can gather. I'm doing just fine without.

    And yes FES wanted ;_;

    Sounds fantastic, ill definately pick this up with my birthday cash. Fingers crossed it dosent require previous knowledge of Persona 1/2.

    Atlus makes the greatest JRPGs eva.. I sold my digital devil saga 1 for $100... name one other game you can make $50 on selling 2 years after buying it. These are the games that people that dont like JRPGs havent played, non kiddy characters...cant wait till the new xbox 360 atlus game makes its release stateside.

    @Gamespot "Not only are Fable 2, Lost Odyssey, and Final Fantasy XIII supposedly due," I'm sorry but while Fable 2 and Final Fantasy XIII could easily be put in the 'supposedly' category, Lost odyssey is out in like, 3 weeks!? lol, hardly 'supposedly'

    and yeah... it's about time we got some Persona action going down.

    It is a great game, highly recommend to anyone who enjoys RPGs or a great dark story. Now if only we can get some more news on FES and not just a sentence out of EGM's Rumor Mill...

    Oh and not to mention that we never got any of the previous Persona games, not even the awefull US version of the first game.

    I really hope they rerelease them for PSP at some point, i would love to be able to play it and not have to boot up an illegal emulator, and have a printed script at hand.

    Uuuhhh.... OLD news!? I've had this preordered with this exact date confirmed for 3 months now. And yes, we europeans do get the shaft, we are still waiting on a confirmed date for Rock Band, and a lot of games we just dont get at all (Manhunt 2, Rule of Rose, others)

    I've never heard of this game before...but it sounds nuts! You have relation ships, and go to school but then shoot yourself in the head in 'battles', wtf?
