Crisis Core: FFVII confirmed for Europe, Australia

PSP prequel to acclaimed Final Fantasy game is all set for release in PAL territories.

In Japan, Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII was responsible for a huge surge in PlayStation Portable hardware sales when it was released in September. That sales increase came even though the game was released the week before the new PSP Slim was due to launch.

In the US, the release date has been set for March 25, and now Europeans and Australians have also been promised the game for sometime this "spring."

Exclusively for the PSP, Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII is set seven years before the start of Final Fantasy VII for the original PlayStation. The Shinra company is on the verge of having a monopoly on mako energy and is rapidly growing a huge private army.

The game focuses on a young soldier in the Shinra army called Zack, who hopes to achieve the first-class rank. The Final Fantasy VII characters will also put in an appearance, and their backstories will be explored.

Square Enix also promises that the PAL version of the game will feature "additional gameplay challenges not included in the original Japanese version." Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII will come to all PAL territories in spring 2008.

umm forevernemesis you do realise this is for the australian and european version so of course that person means AUS spring since this has no realtion whatsoever to the american release since it is specifically talking about the australian and european one

You silly billies. PSP games are region free. Just import the american version. DVDcrave.com will be stocking the US version the moment it comes out, with 4 dollars delivery anywhere in AUS.

Sif "wait" for the official release and give people at EB money.

What i don't get is why square/Enix only let psp players take part in the extension of FFVII story! It's unforgivable!!

    Cheers to the hand-held screw-up!!!

I wonder if these additional challenges that they have mentioned in the PAL version will be available for the US version too.

Nonetheless, this game is gonna be superb. I think it is going to be one of the best PSP games this year neck-and-neck with God of War: Chains of Olympus.

I have been tracking this game for so long. PLEASE ... release it already!! To olaoye_tw in my experience, we Canadians get games the day after the U.S. date, I guess it takes that extra day to drive the truck over the border, lol so we'll get it March 26.

If you can't wait for the PAL release just import the U.S version.

"Spring" in the U.S is Autumn in Australia, which is the months of March, April, May. So umm, yeah.

    Posted Jan 18, 2008 4:13 am PT

I can't wait to play this in english, I have it in japanese but I dare not play too far into it.. Theres so much story going on and the crazy materia battle system is cool but impossible to understand in japanese xD

Also the cinimatics are amazing! Theres a super sweet battle between Sephiroth, Genesis, and Angeal (I think that was his name?) on top of the shinra mako cannon, mind you it was in a virtual simulator It was amazing. Can't wait for the release!

(Also Did you know that Genesis, the main baddy in the game is based off the lead singer from Gackt? Crazy.)

Keep the great portable games coming. The reasons I don't own a PSP keep being overshadowed by my desire for one...this will definitely be one of the tipping points for me!
