BioShock DLC surfaces

PC and Xbox 360 patch/update adds new power-ups and a new widescreen mode to 2K Boston's underwater shooter.

With the flow of huge new releases finally slowing down, 2K Games is giving PC and Xbox 360 gamers a reason to go back and boot up BioShock again. The publisher today announced the release of a "PC patch" and an "Xbox 360 Title Update" for the 2K Boston- and 2K Australia-developed first-person shooter.

Both the patch and the update add a new plasmid power and gene tonics to the game, as well as a new widescreen option that addresses one of the game's numerous postlaunch issues. Players who download the patch or update and play on widescreen monitors will now be able to select a broader view of the world, instead of the standard full-screen image with the top and bottom cut off.

One difference between the PC patch and the Xbox 360 update is that the latter includes a new achievement for the game. Xbox 360 players will now be able to earn 100 gamerscore points and the "Brass Balls" achievement by beating the game on hard difficulty without dying.

The Sonic Boom plasmid can be found in in Neptunes Bounty. Whether the plasmids becomes more powerful thoughout the game, ex. Sonic Boom 2 and 3, I do not know.

That widescreen thing is for PC only right? I have a widescreen HDTV and i don't have any bars on the screen... just a bit confused...

The new plasmid is sonic boom - from what I heard it's basically like an over-powered telekinesis throw without the manipulation.

I'm definitely psyched for this though; BioShock is one of the best games I've ever played.

Maybe they should add extra levels too. That would be sweet. I mean, add them where you enter the bathysphere to go to the next level.

Its already a perfect game, but a little bit more to do in its awesome world doesn't hurt anyone.

Brass Balls doesnt make up for Vita Chambers being crap though. And it had better not glitch out on me like freakin hard mode achievement did, i played hard mode (WIthout dying already so this is a chore) and it glitched, i missed out on the research PHD and Hard Mode achievements.

Oh well, if this is free i'll get it and get Brass Balls to prove the game is easy enough without chambers. If it's gonna cost, shove it it shoulve been there to begin with.

    BRASS BALLS!

I've yet to play the game but if it has a save-anywhere feature then it won't that difficult at all. Just a lot of practice and trial-and-error.

esba, mine still crashes at 2nd load screen even after I patched. I am so wholeheartedly disappointed at 2K for such a lackluster preformance. It's bad enought it takes them 3 1/2 months to make the patch, but it's worse that all the patch does is add new crap and sync subtitles with audio.

  • Shishio817

    Posted Dec 5, 2007 12:23 pm PT

That's seemingly impossible, to beat it without dying. No way.

Good one, Brain. Ironic name, by the way.

It's a good one because Xbox users don't have to pay for it at all. Even if they don't have xbox live they get it.
