Kane & Lynch's gold heist moved up to Nov. 14

Eidos announces that Io's cooperative crime shooter has stormed the factory, and will arrive on the PS3, PC, and Xbox 360 nearly a week early.

Though "Black Friday" isn't until the day after Thanksgiving, November 20 was shaping up to be doomsday for gamers' wallets. That Tuesday will see Rock Band, Mass Effect, and Uncharted: Drake's Fortune all hit store shelves the day after the PC Unreal Tournament III goes on sale.

However, the November 20 herd was thinned by one today. British publisher Eidos Interactive has announced that its anticipated crime-action game Kane & Lynch: Dead Men has gone gold and will ship six days earlier on November 14 in North America. The M-for-Mature-rated game will ship simultaneously for the PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3.

Developed by Io Interactive, the Danish studio behind Freedom Fighters and the Hitman series, Kane & Lynch begins with the titular pair of criminals embroiled in a prison breakout. Soon, the duo--a burnt-out mercenary and a medicated psychopath--are staging bank heists reminiscent of the film Heat, with bloody massacres straight out of Reservoir Dogs. The third-person shooter will have a heavy focus on co-op gameplay, although it will be offline only; the game does sport several online modes, however.

Kane & Lynch's release-date revision will be music to gamers' ears. However, if executives at Eidos parent SCi Entertainment think November 14 is any less competitive, they are sorely mistaken. Super Mario Galaxy, Assassin's Creed, Crysis, BlackSite: Area 51, Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles, WWE SmackDown! vs. RAW 2008, and Need for Speed: ProStreet all arrive during that week, which falls just after Call of Duty 4: Modern Combat hits stores.

I call shennanigans on Gamespt for firing Jeff Gerstmann for his Kane & Lynch review. Just because Eidos paid a ton of advertising and they had a movie deal in place before the game was even released, it's not right for the business people to interefere with an honest review. The game wasn't good. That's the consensus from multiple reviews. It's pretty obvious they pushed it out before it was ready. The co-op play, which was a major promotion point in the play, was missing. More refinement was needed at every level except the graphics. This game needed more development time, plain and simple. Don't kill the messenger Eidos.

Loonnngggg time reader of Gamespot.com but Jeff Gerstmann's firing makes me wary of this site's reviews if the advertiser pays enough. Sorry, going to EGM and 1up.com after this. Editor-in-Chief Dan "Shoe" Hsu has gone on record in interviews saying that Ziff Davis has a "seperation of church and state" policy with regards to advertising and editorial.

This game is going to be absolutely awesome! I love co-op shooters and the whole bank robbery component just makes the whole thing that much more fantastic... I'm sick of waiting. Lets blow the safe already!!!

the online heist mode looks cool, but the graphics look choppy, maybe a good rental,, but i would rather get cod4 and street pro before i even think about this, actually i would rather take my 70 dollars, and put the towards the next game console i plan on buying, i already got a ps3, i want a 360 now.

Weird! A game is actually being released EARLIER than anticipated? Yay, a company that didnt delay a highly anticipated game until sometime in 2008. Go you.

I'm going to wait for all the reviews first before spending my hard earned moola. The only reason why I would buy Assasin's creed is to make Jade raymond rich.

i think it is one game that i should get but first my hands on Assasins Creed and Drake, after that we see.
I might consider GSpot review of the game also before getting it,although i have stopped to trust reviewers here.

This game with it's last minute ditch of online co-op is going to sit on the catch me later shelf with the one time rental grope. Sorry Eidos, you slipped & dropped the ball for a sure score with me. Don't feel all too bad though, Black Site: Area 51, with it's similar mistake, will keep you company while COD:4, Mass Effect and Assassin's Creed will keep most of us company through the holidays. Maybe the PS3 users will give you a chance. I know what group of people, Eidos, will be happy that MGS:4 moved on and Drake sits alone.

I think it was a good idea for them to move the game up... because between this and Mass Effect..I choose mass effect, however, I'll end up buying this anyways... problem is I'll probably still be playing COD4 by the time this launches and I plan on spending hours and hours with Mass Effect... The Holiday season should be great for the 360. PS3 better have a miracle in Drakes Fortune.

I'll start by saying this is definetely a game I'm picking up for christmas, if not only for the multiplayer, Fragile Alliance.. I somewhat don't think graphics are too good, but the game certainly looks good, and hey, when has a game from IO ever been bad?.. I bet it got a very interesting story, and the multiplayer just looks absolutely doublecrossingamazing
I'm picking it up for Playstation 3, so I'll be doublecrossing you guys out there.. ^_^

Not sure if this one can compete with CoD4 and Assassin's Creed, but it's definitely up there in games to look out for. This will probably be a rental if I get around to it. Nov. is insane as it is now for games.

Gonna give the game a rent, but its going to have to compete with Assassin's Creed for that. Nice to see it coming out ahead of schedule, hope we get an XBL demo maybe.
