Source: An ad appearing in the "Black Friday" edition of Sears' catalog, as reported by the penny pinchers at GottaDeal.com.
What we heard: Endearingly dubbed Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving marks the beginning of the holiday-spending splurge as millions of consumers flock to retail outlets to score great deals and occasionally gouge an eye or two to land the latest "it" toy of the season. Though it may not be in as much demand--or scarce supply--as the Wii, the DS will certainly be a popular item this holiday season.
Spurring that demand, Nintendo may have a few new colors lined up for the holiday season. First sniffed out by deal-hunting site GottaDeal, a purported Sears ad (pictured) shows two new Nintendo DS bundles coming to the retail superstore in time for Black Friday.
The first contains a copy of Nintendogs and a "metallic rose" DS marked by a paw print, while the other features Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass and a gold DS emblazoned with a triforce logo. Both bundles are listed for $149.99--$14.99 less than the combined normal price of a DS and a game sold separately and the same price as the Brain Age 2 bundle that went on sale earlier this year.
Retailers are often privy to unannounced details on new products headed to their stores, despite being notorious for leaking said details through preprinted ads. Case in point: Both Sony's and Microsoft's price drops on their next-gen hardware were blown by leaked Circuit City ads earlier this year. Further, the item number on the ad also appears to match up with Sears' catalog system. The ad lists the bundles as Sears item number 93023, while other Nintendo DS models on Sears' Web site bear the similar number of 5893026000.
A metallic rose and gold also seem to be plausible colors for Nintendo's handheld. Aside from bearing a name only Nintendo could think up, the metallic rose DS was released in Japan earlier this year. Though it isn't out in other territories, a golden DS would be a natural selection for a Zelda-themed handheld. In the past, Nintendo has released gold-colored cartridges for previous Legend of Zelda iterations, including the original NES game and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time for the Nintendo 64.

got a white ds lite after tryin to decide for an hour in the store whether to get the white or silver. then i realized it didnt matter, i was gonna case mod it anyway. oh and gamespot... the 360 and ps3 are current gen consoles. i cant believe u guys are still calling a 2 year old and 1 year old console next gen consoles. hello, ps2, cube and xbox are last gen now.
Another Thought I think I'll Buy the Crimsom DS LIte Instead. The Zelda Ds probley won't come to Canada anyways,and that's where i'm from

im really jelous of u guys in america u get some brill colours 4 the ds out there and im a really big fan of the zelda games but i suppose i cant complain too much cause ill bbe able to by the new silver colour that a lot of u want out there in the us
That gold one makes me want to swap away my original style DS. And I love that. If they come over to the UK, I'm going to have some serious thinking on my hands.

I'd get the gold one if it didn't come with PH...I got that a while ago. Meh, I guess I could just trade it in, but I want that gold one, and I could use a new DS Lite, mine's starting to age a little...Darn L button.
Since Nintendo started providing different colors for its gaming devises, I like the color varieties for the DS. Not only that, but they are tasteful. Let us hope that the color varieties will eventually appear on the Wii once its surprising demand levels off.

Mmm. A Zelda DS. A GOLD zelda ds. the perfect excuse to finally get a lite. I'd been holding off because I had the special Mario Kart red DS and didn't feel like spending more money on a machine that plays the same games exactly. But a Zelda Gold one? I'm gonna be broke if they keep doing this to me.

I need a new DS and still need to get the new Zleda game, this bundle would be perfect for me.
I still have the original DS, but I'm only swapping it out for a lite if they release a silver one. That said, the new metallic rose and gold colors look very good, and having more variety is always a good thing when it comes to DS colors.

Wow, I cant believe people are complaining about this. Nintendo is simply using a new color and branded DS to convince people who don't have one to go ahead and upgrade. I still have the original DS and none of the Lites or new colors are going to convince me to trade it in. I love the DS, always have, always will. Stop complaining about a new color. If you want to get it, than get it. If you don't then don't. Simple as that.
Until I see a better picture I can't decide. Gold bundle is a logical choice, but there might be something awry. And if I want awry there's the lovely crimson/black combo at my local shoppe.
But in 4-5 months they'll probably release the Swiss-Army DS, and then I'll be sorry. 
Oh boy Rose and Gold!!! More cool colors to add to the DS. Can't wait to see other cool colors down the road.
I honestly want a silver one too. Make it look stainless steel and you got yourself something amazing.

The gold Zelda one is pretty cool, but I'll stick with my Onyx Black.
I have a DS lite that I found used at a game store, it's a blue one imported from korea, but when i got it the screen is like really loose, and im thinking about switching for the gold zelda themed one...so much cooler.
i hear the gold adds 10+ Horsepower.
This is exactly what I was expecting to finally make me buy a DS. Gold DS bundled with Phantom Hourglass at a budget price!!!! I'M GONNA HAVE ONE OF THOSE!!! (I won't let this one slip from me as I did with the GC+MP+MP2 demo bundle T_T).

Why do some people complain about more colours? People don't have to buy one of every colour. Nintendo offers new options to lure new buyers for the most part, people that buy multiple units are in the minority (except for fat to lite). The new colours are designed to get people that are undecided to purchase a DS (Like a Zelda fan).
