Sonic playable in Super Smash Bros. Brawl

Blue Hedgehog haters will get their chance to beat up Sega's mascot in the eagerly awaited Wii game.

Sonic the Hedgehog is a busy guy these days. Not only is he going to be competing against Mario in Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games, he's now going to be fighting in Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

Due out in Europe and Japan in Q1 2008 and at a now-undetermined date in North America, Super Smash Bros. Brawl is a fighting game for the Wii featuring a variety of playable iconic video game characters, including Link, Mario, Wario, Solid Snake, and a suitless Samus.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl will also feature online multiplayer battles between up to four players, along with a new adventure mode called The Subspace Emissary, where gamers pick a favourite character and then journey on an adventure to do battle with various bosses from Nintendo games. Other stages for players to battle in include Delfino Plaza, Yoshi's Island, and Sky World.

The superfast Sonic first appeared in Sonic the Hedgehog for the Sega Megadrive in 1991, as a Sega mascot to rival Nintendo's popular Mario character. Since then he has appeared in numerous games, comics, and cartoons.

    Sonic looks incredibly good in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, but really hard to control, kind of like Falco. Can't wait to try him out.

    It is pretty funny how Gamespot blatantly hates sonic. I'm looking forward to beating him up too though.

    i believe that it shouldn't be a question of who's better.I mean have people asked who would win in a fight sonic or link or Pikachu vs sonic or Kirby vs sonic.they should have a mode where u make your own character.so those who ask of who's better why don't you make a character fusion.i plan if they would do this i would make a fusion of Mario,sonic,link(maybe),kirby and pikachu,this would be great way for some to answer some questions so take this seriously!

    CAN'T WAIT!! Did you check these articles about him? The first one mentions about a Capcom Source that is reliable because Nintendo Project was told about Resident Evil 5 and Umbrella Chronicles before announcement. So sure as heck Megaman will be getting in, and also the second one says there will be a Megaman game for Wii.

    Therefore he WILL be able to get in and will announce him this month or next. The game might be delayed as a result as well, so what Megaman deserves it and I can't wait for him. GO MEGAMAN!!

    what is GS's problem with sonic? they just outright hate him. its sad.

    On a lighter note, im quite sure there are many people who would buy a Wii only for brawl, which seems to be getting better and better, now with a level editor and the blue hedgehog making a debut, and some more unreleased features... and ill probably be one of these people.

    anyone who thinks tails or knuckles will be playable...its not going to happen. It's been said that third party characters would amount to 1-2 besides Snake and they wouldn't waste another spot on another Sega character

    It just gets better and better... but I agree, the headline seems a bit biased. Games previous to the 360/ PS3 game were amazing. And Sonic and the Secret Rings was great.

    You are right shadw94 about megaman has a character to be added in SSBB. Masterchief form Halo? 1. Don't think so and 2. It would ruin the game. What they can add is bomberman! like megaman they have both many games for nintendo consoles, they should have their place in this game. Another character and it woul be interesting is Ryu from Street Fighter! Why? Don't know but if Snake is there Ryu would be there also. Cloud from FF shouldn't be there because there is too many characters with swords then Naruto!!!

    it'll be better if u can use knuckle joe (assist trophy) as a character. cuz all the characters in ssbb r either tall or jus plain not good to use. ive never used peach and think dats a waist of character. if theyre gonna take out better people than her than y not jus take out the good people. and i think dat megaman would also be a good add-on. like they did with link and young link. it'll be like samus and mega man. itl be pretty cool if they put masterchief in with his stick grenades. but that will ruin the whole game. they should also make the selectable characters a bigger choice. if its a small variety then whats da point of taking out the characters. well dats my opinion. i didnt really like the idea of postponing it but its a better thing becuz they can make the game better and probably add mega-man or more characters. or maybe but in shadow!!!!!

    Biased. Sure the PS3/360 game wasn't as good, but that doesn't mean GS staff to completely despise the series.

    Sonic is the perfect addition to the Smash Series since ever since the Dreamcast died, Sonic Teams games have primarily been on Nintendo consoles. Sonic Adventure 2: Battle.

    Even tho everyone foresaw this, my mouth dropped when I actually saw this on Smashbros.com. Now we can wait for Tails and perhaps even Knuckles to be confirmed.

    This just in Nintendo has confirm that Hilary Clinton, Radioactive Man from the Simpsons, Bruce Lee as the Green Hornet, Bionic Commando, Fat Albert, Bazooka from GI Joe and Lazerbeck from the original Transformers will also be selectable characters in SSBB.

    I have been doing a whole lot of research on this on the internet and have been constantly keeping up with the Articles that are shown on Google. First, a while back maybe like a little under a year that Mega Man's creator, Keiji Inafune, is working on an un announced Wii Title. http://kotaku.com/gaming/capcom/inafune-on-mystery-wii-title-230163.php I had thought at one point that this title was Zack and Wiki, but it is not because there are different people developing it. This is an old article and no one hasn't heard anything since. As we know, Sega has been working with Nintendo with the development of "Mario and Sonic at the Olympics" Now that relationship and by the demand of the fans, Sonic is now a character in SSBB. As we have it on Wikipedia, Rushan S. (2006-08-17). Sakurai and Miyamoto Comment on Sonic's Popularity. Nintendo Wii News. QJ.NET. Retrieved on 2007-08-04. “Nintendo hopes that Snake's appearance in Super Smash Bros. Brawl will encourage other publishers to allow their characters to join the Smash Bros. line-up, and is already actively negotiating for the rights to include at least one other non-Nintendo character.” While this article at least confirms there will be at least one more, which could be Sonic, I have read through message boards and such that there may be at least one more. On Capcom's website, there was an interesting message given with all question marks. While I haven't found a person to crack the code, some people have manage to find the last word could be "Brawl" and the fourth to last could either be Rockman or MegaMan or the fourth and fifth word from the beginning could be Mega Man if you want to say it is two words. http://blogs.capcomusa.com/blogs/news.php/2007/10/10/prepare_yourself Also, there is a recent interview with Gamespot and Inafune talking about Mega Man's 20th anniversary http://www.gamespot.com/news/6179759.html So we know that Inafune is working on a Wii Title, and given by the date of the article, it could be safe to say that he has been working on Super Smash Brothers Brawl along with Konami, Sega, and Nintendo all along. And since the anniversary is coming up on December 17th, we could potentially expect to hear the news soon if what I am saying has some true validity in it. If anyone can support my theory with facts, please post it or say what you think.
