Chains of Olympus breaking March 4

Ready at Dawn dates God of War's PSP debut; special-edition demo disc out at the end of September.

Though it's unclear when God of War 3 will skewer the PlayStation 3, the series' debut on the PlayStation Portable now has a firm date. Today, during a visit to Ready at Dawn, GameSpot was told by the developer that God of War: Chains of Olympus will go on sale March 4, 2008.

God of War: Chains of Olympus has not yet been priced or rated. However, given the Greek mythology-inspired series' ultraviolent nature, an M-for-Mature rating is almost assured. Once again, the game will star Kratos, the fierce Spartan who took on the gods themselves in the first two games. Chains tells an original story set between the unfortunate death of Kratos' family and the start of the original God of War, which sees the warrior tracking down monsters in a fantastical version of ancient Greece.

[UPDATE] Despite the jam-packed nature of this holiday season, March will seem like a long time for many to play Chains of Olympus. Ready at Dawn agrees, and will give North American gamers a God of War fix early. At the end of September, those who signed up for the game's demo earlier this year on the game's official Web site will receive a special-edition demo UMD containing a portion of a playable level as well as additional content, including a behind-the-scenes video of the game's development. A standard demo UMD, featuring only the level portion, will be available later in the year.

    i got ride of my psp and im getting the demo when ever it comes in in oct. that game better be a downloadable game or coming to the ps2 or something.

    was thinking of selling my psp as i had lost intrest but i am keeping it just to play this game. Its also nice to see they haven't just ported GOW or GOW2 but have made something to explain about kratos's service to the gods.

    I was actually looking forward to this game, I was thinking it would come out later this year. But considering the other games coming this holiday season, I guess March is not too bad. Can't wait to get my demo later this month, thought!

    I reserved my copy of GoW: Chains of Olympus when GoW II came out. I hate that it's been pushed to March 4, 2008, but I guess I have to deal with it. Thankfully, I got one of those GoW: Chains of Olympus Special Edition UMD Demo coming.

    I kind of take this as... God of War 3 wont be getting developed for the PS3 until AFTER March then... so it's probably going to be a good two years before we see Sony's most anticipated franchise coming to it's more important console. WTF. I do look forward to the PSP version though... but it should be coming to the PS3 first. God of War 2 should have been on the PS3, bottom line.

    Eh. I won't mind Chains of Olympus, but GoW3 is all I really care about here. My only concern is what's going to happen with it being PS3 exclusive. So far the PS3 has half the sales of the 360... Will it inspire buttloads of PS3 buyers, or will it just receive less popularity? Man, as much as I'm sure the PS3 will have its share of good games, this is the only one I'd really, really want (so far). I don't want to have to buy a PS3 for one game! C'mon Jaffe, you're cool and all but multi-consoling is the way of the future, get with it.

    You know, with the real E3 gone, I'm noticing developers are taking there time to sure up their products. When the original E3 was around, there was a rush to make the game playable and show it, which means the game was probably going to be released during the holiday season whether or not it was ready. When this new E3, developers are making the game at their leisure and many games are being pushed to early next year. Hopefully this means Chains of Olympus and the other games released then with be as good as they can be.
