EA dates Playground, Need for Speed ProStreet

Two of the company's heaviest-hyped games locked in to dates for the US and Europe.

Electronic Arts has dated two of its key late-2007 titles. EA Playground will be swinging in to North America on October 23 and sliding into Europe on November 2. Racing game Need for Speed ProStreet will be screeching into North America on October 31, stalling very briefly, and then skidding into Europe a day later, on November 1.

EA Playground, developed by EA Canada, is a set of minigames themed around kids' schoolyard antics, including paper aeroplane racing, tetherball, and dodgeball. Designed to be a family-friendly title, EA Playground will be coming to the Nintendo Wii and DS.

Need for Speed ProStreet is the latest in the driving franchise, which started in 1995 with the release of the first Need for Speed game for the PC. In the new game, developed by EA Black Box, players can race in four different styles--grip, drag, drift, and speed challenge--as they try to prove they are the street-racing king. Need for Speed ProStreet is coming to the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii, PlayStation 2, DS, PC, and mobile.

GR33DY83 , I agree with u 100% about Forza 2; the online has just stalled out, to use a pun. The Single player is, IMO, too long for a racing game; having to beat all the races in one region to get all the cars in that region, and then switch over to the other two regions means a lot of money, so u'll be playing the game for so long trying to beat it (rather than perfect it) that it becomes monotonous. Say what you will about NFS; at least it keeps things simple, to the point, and generally has a good pace to it (with NFS:MW having the best pace IMO).

Halloween, 31st in the US? Cool. I hope we see more of what we saw in NFSU 2. I hated all arcade racers in'till that game. Even thow the speeds of the cars were BS. And rear wheel cars had no chance "need to fix that." It still was just to fun. So you looked past the BS. Also I hope to see a longer single player game. And you need a 01 Trans Am like mine in the game Why is their never a 4TH Gen TA in any race games? They fly!! And somehow they get away with the over glossed over hyped wet look. And that look was the first appeal "graphics wise" I had to this game.

Man i can't wait for this to come out I MISSS playing online, Forza 2 SUCKS ONLINE, i don't care what ANYBODY thinks, it takes soo god damn long to get a game going, and whats the point of being in a room when a race has already started, i wish a lot of the racing games out there follow in EA games style, with CARBON it was very veryyyy easy to start a race to get into a race and get going, does anyone else agree or am i alone on this

midnight club los angeles looks absolutely terrible, anyone caught buying that game should be shot! that trailer makes it looks such a cheesy game, so unprofessional and lacking of any quality. pretty lame also just driving around los angeles and lets make a game out of it. lame

ProStreet looks alright. I still think that Hot Pursuit II was the best NFS game ever. Underground and Underground 2 slumped, but were decent games. Then they went back to formula with Most Wanted, which was awesome, though IMO not as good as Hot Pursuit II. Carbon was alright, better then the Underground games, but definitely a step down from Most Wanted. Let's hope ProStreet takes the series in a right direction.

this is a completely different NFS. Why not eh.. you are wrong Dark_Nexus.. the series needed something different and fresh this year. Next year they can go back to the NFS with cops. The problem is everyone has their own opinion of what they want. This year they went with what they think is the future of street racing which is real race tracks having drag and drift modes.. something that neither Forza or Granturismo have. Those that want cops and the original style like underground can wait til next year.. I think the series has needed a break for quite a while. Give them 2 years to prepare and make a cops based game and the result will be much better than just having one year to make it.

EA disappoints me,them and their clever marketing. They took one big thing from last year's game out, then replace it with something else in the next game. Then the next game brings back the thing taken out of the first one,but then takes out another part of the previous game.It seems that EA adds and removes content just to keep people interested in the franchise. To me the perfect NFS game would have the atmosphere of NFSU 2,combined gameplay from NFSMW and Carbon, and then a new story with enhanced graphics, physics,AI and all those other upgrades. But of course EA will never do that because it later games would be lost in the crowd due to lack of interest.Unless of course it works like Virtua Fighter, which feels perfect each time you play it,then the new version comes out and refines it even more.Either way,I may rent Prostreet, but Midnight Club Los Angeles is what I will be buying,as it looks to retain all the style and gameplay that made the previous MC games so good.Oh well, let's hope EA doesn't destroy the NFS franchise.

can't wait to drive the Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X . Based on the videos the ultimate king should have it, cause it was the car in the middle of the five.
taht should mean that you can only drive it after you have finished the game

EA should go back to the pre Underground days where the NFS games were more about gameplay than doing up a car (which they poor far too much effort on). Playground will hopefully flop like Boogie, it will teach them to to release such rubbish.

I'm a bit worried about the latest NFS! Underground 2, for me had the greatest atmosphere, partly cos of the varied city layout and great music. Most Wanted, was exciting from the point of view of cops chasing you and great sense of speed.........but the city layout sucked, was boring and was confusing...everywhere looked the same. And there was no nighttime driving!! Carbon, was a bit better than Most Wanted....a bit more atmosphere and the nice added touch of team-play was a nice addition, but the game seemed so short! ............Now this latest incarnation seems like it doesnt know what its doing. The very title of it sends me into an endless sleep! PRO STREET? How exciting. I don't care how great the graphics will be .....if the game doesnt have a new engine, physics. damage, etc, COPS (very important) and ATMOSPHERE then its gonna be a huge BOREFEST. I'm still gonna buy it but my hopes arent high. *Dissapointed Fan*
