Galactic Civilizations II expands again

Critically acclaimed PC turn-based strategy game to receive second add-on; Twilight of Arnor will introduce new technologies and customization options.

The universe of Stardock's Galactic Civilizations II: Dread Lords is expanding once more. The publisher has confirmed for GameSpot that it is working on a second expansion pack to the game, following up on the first expansion, Dark Avatar, which was released earlier this year.

The new expansion, Twilight of Arnor, will add a great deal of new content to the game to complement the many gameplay-related enhancements made in Dark Avatar. Twilight of Arnor will offer new spaceship customization options and new technologies for each of the game's alien civilizations to explore, further helping distinguish each from the other.

The expansion is scheduled for release later this year. For more details, consult GameSpot's exclusive interview with Stardock's Brad Wardell.

You can order it directly form the site but the better part that the person below didn;t mention is that you can prder a direct download/disc copy and it doesn't cost more. So you get the abilty to download the gaem from the site imediately, or as soon as it is available as in this case, plus they will send you a hard copy in the mail. Once installed the game does not require the disc at all but I know some people like to have a physical copy of the game and since it doesn;t cost you more more might as well get it.
This is a great game btw though it doesn;t shock me that people don;t know it existed since PC games, especially on Gamespot do not really recieve the attention that console games do no matter how good they are.

GalCiv 2 was and is an excellent, excellent game. Though this is hardly news - they'd already said on their website and on other sites that another expansion was on the way. A bit late to the party, were we, GS?? Probably just busy covering console games instead...

Im glad there'll be new technologies for each of the games races, galactic civ ii was quite a good game but got quite boring due to the lack of variety between races, some nuisances such as editing a race would permanently alter it for future games, piss poor campaign mode, uncustomisable soundtrack, goofy looking combat (nothing wrong with it being turn based im more of a fan of turn based strategy games than RTS but it just plain looked bad) not to mention for a ok'ish looking game it could sure bog down ones system.
