Motion-sensing controllers come to PS2

In2Games announces a series of titles which use wireless controllers, including RealPlay Tennis, RealPlay Pool, and RealPlay Golf.

Peripheral manufacturer In2Games, which recently scored £7.6 million (approx $15.1 million) in venture capital funding, has announced its first series of motion-sensing controllers and games titles for the PlayStation 2, due for release in the UK for this Christmas holiday season.

The first six games in the series will each come bundled with a unique controller. RealPlay Tennis has a wireless tennis racquet, RealPlay Pool provides its own cue, RealPlay Golf comes with a golf club controller, RealPlay Racing features a steering wheel, and RealPlay Bowling has a wireless bowling ball. The other title in the series, RealPlay Puzzlesphere, has players manipulating a physical sphere to get around a series of "vertigo-inducing" courses.

"The RealPlay range of games is aimed squarely at those PlayStation 2 owners who want to play wireless motion-sensing games without needing to splash out on a new console," commented In2Games CEO Elliott Myers.

Each of the RealPlay games for the PS2 will come packaged with a wireless controller, and they are expected to cost £29.99 ($60) when they go on sale during the 2007 holiday season.

Looks like a cheap PS1 game, the only thing that could save it is if you could use the controllers for other games

The PS2 is still going extremely strong =] I'd like to try these controllers out one day, they seem pretty fun.

    Wii Sports clone?

Ah, well, personally I don't see the need for a special motion controller for a racing game because the steering wheel controller with pedals is probably more realistic. Oh well, looks interesting anyway. I wonder if the PS2 is ever going to fade out. :-)

Hahaha that's awesome, but thank god it's not Sony doing this, for obvious reason. I hope it turns out to be good, and more games come for it, good ones. Though it would have been better if it was a single controller like the Wiimote. Who knows, may be other developers will develop Wii games for the PS2 if the peripheral is successful. That will be a blow for Nintendo.

Yeah people are idiots. Sony didn't even make this. Speaking of idiots, look at the guy in the picture haha, now is it just me, or does it look like he isn't someone who would play games. Well actually I can see him playing Halo 2 online (but no other games hardly except maybe a Madden) and then calling ihmself a gamer... p.s. Hey Two400, that girl is NOT hot at all, just bring the picture up to its full size. UGH that's gross, let me tell you.

A PS2 with a motion-sensing controller is pretty much a Wii. The only difference is it already has a 12 times bigger installed user base, and is cheaper to develop for. Sorry Nintendo.

    120.000.000 PS2 > 10.000.000 Wii's... PS2 owners need no more to buy a Wii, they can keep their PS2 and buy a PS3.

This is not an original idea and it's not very different from a Eyetoy game, this just prooves that Nintendo is an expensive console because the single original thing it has is a "peripheric" controllers that can by applied to any other console in the market. And let's remember that motion controllers are not a proprietary technology of Nintendo, someone that not Nintendo invented it, so everyone can pay for the pattent and use it, and I don't even think this will use the same kind of technology.

wow... all of you calling Sony copycats are idiots... it's not even Sony doing this... it's some 3rd party.

    Morons.

And for God's sake, using ideas thought up by others is part of the industry. Nintendo is guilty of it just like Sony and Microsoft. You think the DS is an original idea?

Oh look a touch screen... Ever hear of of the Game.com. Look it up, it was out with a touch screen LONG before the DS.

    Be gamers... not fanboys.

This has some real potential. If this thing actually becomes succesful, who knows what could happen. Sony just my dump the PS3 and keep going with the PS2. The PS2 could survive another generation. This could be huge.

Ripping off Nintendo aside, this could be somthing huge.

"Proof that Wii isn't good for gaming.Gimmicks aren't games."

Really? Then why are Sony constantly **** the bed and ripping off Nintendo? Anyone, Sony included, who thinks motion sensitivity will take off on the PS2 is an idiot. The PS2 is old technology...why are they trying to revive it? Christ, sales must be bad on the PS3.....

I agree with Rentago. Everything you see on Sony's products is things that you've seen elsewhere first, and all Sony are doing to make it look better is give it a different name.

Nintendo should of almost just put out a motion sensing controller for the gamecube since it seems like an accessory. Those people look happy playing with their motion sensing balls. Nice touch on the bra showing also lol
