Dynasty Warriors 6 spinning onto 360

The latest installment in Koei's fighting game franchise has been confirmed for the Xbox 360--not just the PS3, as previously thought.

Yokohama-based game publisher Koei will be releasing its latest Dynasty Warriors offering on both the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360 consoles. An update on Koei's Japanese Web site shows a video trailer for the Dynasty Warriors 6 game--called Shin Sangoku Musou 5 in Japan--with logos for both consoles.

The title, due out this autumn in Japan, is yet to be announced for the rest of the world, although it's a fairly safe bet that that announcement will be forthcoming--since the series' conception a barrage of previous Dynasty Warriors titles and spin-offs have already crossed the Pacific.

The new game is developed by Omega Force--the studio responsible for all the previous main Dynasty Warriors titles--and the video shows the player-controlled character doing things such as swimming and climbing, as well as leaping from boat to boat in a sea-based battle.

The first Dynasty Warriors game was released in 1997 for the PlayStation, and the game series has proved a roaring success for Koei. Since then, a number of sequels have followed, along with ports to various other formats, and spin-offs such as Dynasty Warriors: Xtreme Legends games and Dynasty Warriors Mahjong.

GameSpot will bring you more details of this title when they become available.

Because after the fisrt title on ps1 they moved on ps2 without adding a "2".
They renamed the series "Shin Sangoku Musou" (shin is something like "new")... so that's why they missed a number.

I stopped playing after I saw DW 5 come out. I saw my friends playing it and realized it was crap. This one, however, looks like something new. Sure, it's a hack 'n slasher, but all in all, they are fun. I gave up on DW because they didn't put anything new into the game. Seeing this, I might consider buying it in the future.

Why does Koei keep making these games... because people keep buying them. THESE GAMES ARE JUST FUN.. If you've never played DW thIs looks like a great time to start.

This looks insane. In the trailer, the guy was running and swinging his sword, and just ploughed through the entire army. WHERE ELSE CAN YOU THAT?

Game was decent, and that's being nice. Not really a big loss to the PS3. Sorta like Kayne and Lynch going to the PS3. Not really a big deal.

psx_warrior I'm glad its on the PS3. I don't have to get an Xbox 360 to enjoy the game. It may be mindless action to some people, but at least you can unleash a combo of your choosing or a killer musou attack that can wipe out a whole score of enemies. I love the ability to mow down hundreds, even thousands of enemies-just you and the commanding general. Side by side mowing 'em all down and watching their army crumble before your very eyes. Or better yet, you are the commanding general mowing 'em all down all by yourself. In the end, your the only one left standing, TRIUMPHANT!!!-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This game requires no skill. If my little brother can beat them then I know how easy and boringly repetitve this franchise can get.
Dynasty Warriors needs to end....like NOW

@ comthitnuong---Well you gotta understand that gundam was released in japan quite few months ago, I don;t know the exact date. So time frame wise it just so happened they lined up so close here due to the translation ect to bring it over here.

telekenisis i love how both 360 ps3 fans dislike what you have to say, opinions and just mindless gibberish are 2 different things.

when dynasty warriors got announced for wii no one cared but when this was announced for 360, its automatically a system war! but ehhh i love the game!

makes me feel like im in those braveheart, last samurai, gladiator etc movies!

hopefully there will be new gameplay involved!

Psychedelic! I knew that Dynasty Warriors 6/Shin Sangoku Musou 5 was obviously going to be ported from the Sony Playstation 3 System to the Microsoft Xbox 360 Console since Dynasty Warriors 3/Shin Sangoku Musou 2 came out for the Original Xbox Machine 5 years ago in 2002, but anyhow, this has to be the greatest news I've heard since Halo 3, Grand Theft Auto IV, Bioshock, Assassins Creed, WWE Smackdown Vs. Raw 2008, Virtua Fighter 5, TNA Wrestlings: TNA Impact, Soul Caliber 4, and Gears Of War 2 news broke out via the Gamespot.com Staff. Furthermore, Dynasty Warriors 6/Shin Sangoku Musou 5 will be my most tracked video game ever.....until I purchase it on the very first day it is released, because I have been a huge fanatic of the series since 1997 and Koei Inc. & Omega Force Inc. will surely improve upon each aspect of this upcoming: "Chinese - War Based - Tactical/Strategy - Hack'N'Slash" of a wickedly cool video game! I'm almost 20 years old and I can say that even though the Dynasty Warriors/Shin Sangoku Musou Franchise may seem extremely repetitive, well, I frankly enjoy the entire/whole meca of it and the old saying is: "Don't hate it.....just appreciate it."

Its no different from the many many many many Street fighter 2's and all those lousy directors cut Resident evils and the most ridiculous and outrageous offender is the ENTIRE Madden series or almost all licensed sports games for that matter. Heh...the same...indeed.

ack!!! id rather gargle cat p*ss than play a dynasty warriors game. talk about a repetitive game that for some reason has made it to 6 without really changing hardly. these games s-u-c-k suck, sorry just my opinion, the history aspect of it is interesting but everything else is just wave of identical enemies after wave of identical enemies hack'n slash your way to the next level rinse repeat until credits roll.....what garbage.

donthatemalek Wut I meant by reworked is if you know ANYTHING about the series, every character is being remodeled and new weapons and movesets. Look at some of the screenshots. And AGAIn to all haters, you gotta love the book and movies to get into the game more. Cuz there is ALOT more story in this then games like Gears, Madden, Halo, or bioshock! How bout take the time to learn about chinese history, its alot more interesting then US history.-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1st off, how can diss Bioshock when it hasn't even come out?
Besides, Bioshock has a much deeper storyline going in than Dynasty Warriors ever had with all their games.
I see my bro playing this 24/7, I know.

Madro, there are multiple ways to play the game, i've never gone more then 5 seconds without pressing a different button. A lot of the gameplay videos show the same combo time and time again. Admittedly these games aren't revolutionary but they're fun as can be, especially in co-op. DW5 Empires was the same game as the PS2 version, albeit with shinier graphics and achievements, wheras DW6 is a brand new game, made for the 360 & PS3.

Not to mention it's very large popularity and fan-base in many countries. Stopping the series because it's somewhat derivitive isn't a valid enough reason, given it's sales and constantly growing fan-base. I love the series and have about a dozen or so KOEI games, now that i almost exclusively play the 360 this is great news for me and i agree with the game being mediocre-fair for the most part but you can't fault plain-old fun. It's nice to see KOEI's series' pouring onto the next-generation.

Saying it's the same as ever, is true to some degree but this is it's biggest change in seven years and after playing 100s of hours of various Warriors games i have to say (after resigning hope in revolution for the series) i found myself pleasantly suprised.

Currently the only game that i'm buying without any reviews.

I'm surprised they are still making these, not to sound disrespectful to the fans i mean a story only goes a long way when you mash the same button over and over, if there was some variety to the combat system or something i would probably like it but just wow lol

  • dn3datomiced

I love my Dynasty Warriors. The only way they'll ever lose me as a player is if they take giant steps back...that doesn't seem to be the case here.

By the way, to all the series haters: If the series has no redeeming value, why does it keep hitting platinum status? It may be mostly mindless, but since when was a little mindless fun a bad thing? This game will share my gaming shelf with Bioshock, and I don't regret that. I enjoy deep, intelligent, though-provoking games as much as historically-themed mass beat 'em ups.

Besides, if other people can justify playing Madden every year like religion, why should Dynasty Warriors be any different for me?
