Traveller's Tales raiding Lego Indiana Jones

LucasArts commissions Lego Star Wars studio to parody archaeologist-turned-adventurer's first three excursions, available in 2008 for consoles.

Traveller's Tales is no stranger to LucasArts properties. The developer won praise, or at least a few smirks, with its tongue-in-cheek send-up of the hallowed Star Wars franchise in Lego Star Wars and its follow-up, Lego Star Wars II. However, during Star Wars Day at this year's Comic-Con International: San Diego, it wasn't the epic space opera that received one of LucasArts bigger announcements.

Closing out its conference at Comic-Con, LucasArts announced Lego Indiana Jones: The Videogame will ride on to consoles in 2008. As with Lego Star Wars, Lego Indiana Jones will parody three Indiana Jones movies, Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. Lego Indiana Jones will be developed by the same team behind the Lego Star Wars games and feature the same style of quirky humor and familiar movie moments rendered in children's building blocks.

LucasArts' storied franchises aren't the only ones Lego Group has courted recently. In March, Warner Bros. Entertainment announced it would be piecing together DC Comics' Gotham City with Lego Batman, available for multiple consoles in 2008. Earlier that same month, Lego Group announced that Auto Assault developer NetDevil was prepping a massively multiplayer online game around the popular building blocks.

Along with the game, LucasArts also announced that Lego Indiana Jones playsets will be available in January 2008.

Sounds great. Since it's the same people who did Lego Star Wars, I have a lot of faith in their ability to carry this off.

I'm still waiting for Pulp Fiction Lego. Or Reservoir Dogs Lego.

But in all seriousness, this looks pretty cool.

This is brilliant news, I'm looking forward to this and Batman.
I know TT are also considering Lego Lord of the Rings, which would be perfect for this format, and also Harry Potter. I'm guessing the latter will not be released until the last film is due out.

Indy will be released to conincide with the 4th Indy, and Batman with Dark Knight.

    Cooooooooooool
    Hey Guys Read it
"This is Michael Shorrock. I’m the Director of 3rd Party Relations at SCEA. As you may have seen this morning/last night on GameHead with Geoff Keighley, we are announcing that a new franchise from Rockstar Games will be exclusive to PS3. As part of our long standing relationship with Rockstar, and the incredible success for both companies with the cultural icon that is Grand Theft Auto, we’ve agreed to the PlayStation exclusive rights of the next great franchise from the Rockstar studios.
Everyone knows to have success in this business you need to look ahead, identifying the talent and titles that are going to give consumers new kinds of gaming experiences that help set the bar for the rest of the industry. Rockstar has a heritage for doing just that. We have had incredible success with the GTA franchise and are happy to continue to offer those titles on our platforms, and even more excited about what’s to come from the current and future relationship between our companies. Rockstar really wanted to make a game that you can truly only do on PS3, harnessing the power of CELL and Blu-ray disc and this deal lets them do just that.. This is really a win-win situation for both companies. As Jack mentioned in the interview with Geoff, this franchise is not LA Noire, but something all new. We agreed with Rockstar and Take-Two Interactive Software that we wouldn’t disclose anything more about the deal or title at this time, so stay tuned, we’ll share more info as soon as we can."
Anyone tell me Are they talking about gta iv or not? means gta iv will exclusive on ps3?

I'm looking forward to seeing some Lego face melt, explode, and age. Oh and get eaten by Lego alligators. And I want to see a pulsing Lego heart. "Kali-ma....Kali-ma...." There are a lot of really great action sequences from all three movies that I think will translate really well into a Lego video game. LOL I can't wait.

Cool. Interesting to see how they'll make it. it can't be all run-and-gun like star wars legos was because Indiana Jones was about the ADVENTURE. Can't wait to see how it comes out though.

Man, I would love to see a Lord of the Rings Lego game... at least the name "legolas" would be funny for a few minutes...

Seriously though, I would love to see more franchises get the lego treatment, it worked so well with star wars.

Lord of the Rings would be an ideal Lego game. and (lol) a Die Hard Lego game... heh heh. I'd buy that for a dollar!

More Lego! Not too sure about batman, as there are so many kinds of bat-men interpretations... and the scenes in the movies are not as iconic as most franchises.

Lord of the rings, back to the future - ideal lego games

    Posted Jul 29, 2007 2:22 pm GMT

I'm all for LEGO games, but when it gets to the point where you CAN'T create your own things in a LEGO game, it's no longer fun. LEGO Racers for instance, I loved it, because I could make my own car and drive it. But, the whole LEGO Star Wars thing, wasn't like that. Sure, it had LEGOs in it, but I didn't see any customization (I only played the demo), but lack of creativity is what gets me here. If it is a straight-forward game, that doesn't relate to the building blocks that the whole company was created by, in that way, I want nothing to do with it if that is the case. Just SHOWING LEGOs is not enough, people like to BUILD with them, simply put.

This sounds like a cool idea for a Lego game. I heard there is also a Lego Batman and Robin game based on the comics (not the movie) coming. If they make one for the Flash Gordon Movie, I'll be set.

Yes yes yes yes!!! These guys have skills; I love their Lego games. The only two things that could bother me is that the Force was an integral part of puzzle solving in the last games and made the games not just hack-n-slash's with humor, so I hope they have a viable alternative in mind. As well the Indiana Jones universe has far less characters so the Character selection may be slimmed down a lot. Otherwise I have full faith in these guys and I know they game will probably be another hit anyways.

Now how about some Lego Planet of the Apes! Lego Godfather would also be acceptable.
