PS3 value pack dated for Australia
PS3 value pack to land in Australia on August 2; new PSP slated for September.
Sony Computer Entertainment Australia has confirmed that the PlayStation 3 value pack will be coming to Australia on August 2 for A$999 ($879). The announcement came at a PlayStation Australia media event held in Sydney last night.
The starter pack contains a 60GB PlayStation 3 console, two Sixaxis controllers, Resistance: Fall of Man, and MotorStorm--both of which have sold over a million units globally. No announcement about whether the 80GB PlayStation 3 will make it to Australia was made.
The PS3 value pack is being released only in Sony's PAL territories, with US consumers instead getting a price drop on the existing 60GB PS3s to $499. US consumers will also soon be able to purchase the 80GB model--which comes bundled with MotorStorm--for $599.
Managing director of Sony Computer Entertainment Australia and New Zealand Michael Ephraim also confirmed that the redesigned PlayStation Portable--model number PSP-2000--will be coming down under in early September. It will be available in Piano Black and Ceramic White. When asked whether the Star Wars: Battlefront PSP pack would reach our shores, he responded with, "[We are] still considering it."
