SANTA MONICA, Calif.--With Guitar Hero Encore: Rocks the 80s set for release later this month, it's nearly time for Activision to take the wraps off the first Neversoft-developed entry in the series, the upcoming Guitar Hero III for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii, and PlayStation 2. Today the publisher detailed a full lineup of unlockable guitars in the game, which it is now calling Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock.

Activision also included a few other scraps of information about the upcoming game, saying that it will include "a multiplayer action-inspired battle mode, grueling boss battles, a host of exclusive unlockable content, and visually stunning rock venues."

I've heard that since the Wiimote fits into the front of the controller it would be cheaper. Since it would mean the controller itself wouldn't have to have the components to have a motion sensor and a wireless signal inside. Hopefully it's true because I don't wanna be payin $60 for an extra controller. Even though I wouldn't hesitate to fork over $60 for an extra controller it would be nice if i didn't have to.

Any other ideas, opinions, or facts about this rumor?

Yes, the RD Artist is a strange omission to me. Both bass and guitar. I've owned both at one time and I miss them in real life and I'll miss them in GH III.

    Posted Jul 11, 2007 1:52 am PT

Meh, seems cool and all, but they forgot mt favourite Gibson, the RD.
And it would be cool if people could create and insert their own songs, since most songs in GH don't seem to bother me and they left out "the" only genre from the '80s I like.

Why don't they make some deals with other guitar manufacturers? It'd add a bit more realism to the game if it portrayed that not every single band/artist uses Gibson made guitars. They managed to get a bunch of different amp manufacturers afterall. To differ itself from Rock Band it really should focus in depth on the guitar side of things.

Note to Activision: We don't care the unlockable guitars. We care about the songs.

  • tai_chi_rabbit

This ones difficulty is supposed to be between 2 and 1 so if you beat 2 on expert you should be fine.

I can't wait till this game. I beat the first two on expert. I don't know if I could on this one. I'll start off with it on hard.

This is a cool looking game, but my cousin brought this to my attention. "From a leaked memo sent to Joystiq by someone at Game Crazy, prices range from $79.99 USD for drums (roughly £39.76 GBP), to $29.99 USD for the microphone (£14.90 GBP). But the guitar has two different prices for each console. While the PS3 guitar is $59.99 USD (£29.82 GBP), the 360 guitar comes in at $79.99 USD like the drums."

and now my cuz is very upset.
