E3 '07: New Guitar Hero III details, guitars emerge
Activision's newly subtitled Legends of Rock to feature dozens of Gibson guitars, boss battles; publisher touts agreements with all major labels, indie outfits; new controller pics inside.
SANTA MONICA, Calif.--With Guitar Hero Encore: Rocks the 80s set for release later this month, it's nearly time for Activision to take the wraps off the first Neversoft-developed entry in the series, the upcoming Guitar Hero III for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii, and PlayStation 2. Today the publisher detailed a full lineup of unlockable guitars in the game, which it is now calling Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock.
Activision also included a few other scraps of information about the upcoming game, saying that it will include "a multiplayer action-inspired battle mode, grueling boss battles, a host of exclusive unlockable content, and visually stunning rock venues."
The publisher also said that it will be offering downloadable content for the game on multiple platforms, and stressed that it has entered into partnerships with "all the major and independent record labels and music publishers to allow unrivaled access to their deep history of music catalogs."
