New MGS4 trailer to emerge at E3

All-new footage from upcoming Kojima Productions action adventure set to be shown at industry event.

Between Raiden slicing into biologically enhanced Metal Gears and Snake eating the barrel of a loaded pistol, it's no wonder a trailer for Kojima Productions' Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots stole the spotlight for many at last year's Electronic Entertainment Expo. Konami then released a fairly steady stream of trailers for the futuristic stealth action adventure until last September, when it turned off the spigot. The drought will soon end, though, as the latest trailer for the game will be featured during Sony and Konami's press conference at the E3 Media and Business Summit on July 11.

During yesterday's Kojima Productions Report, host Ryan Payton revealed the brand-new trailer will feature several returning characters not yet seen in past previews of the game. Payton also noted that the new trailer will for the first time feature English-language voice acting. Last March, Konami announced David Hayter would again reprise his role as the series' hard-boiled hero.

As well and good as trailers are, what MGS fans really want is to go hands-on with the game. While dishing details on the upcoming Metal Gear Solid 20th anniversary party, Payton dropped a not-so-subtle hint that "a big game" would be playable at the event. Payton also noted that Konami would use the event to announce several Metal Gear Solid products. The event will take place July 24 at the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Tokyo.

Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots has not yet been rated or dated. Check out GameSpot's previous coverage for more on the game.

    You 360 fanboys are still beating that dead horse? MGS4 is not going to be on the 360. Let it go. That rumor was debunked long ago. Move on with your Halos and Mass Effects. Let the Sony fans enjoy their games for once.

    I feel its gonna be one of them cgi only games where the action part is very small and very limited. Very sad for the PS3..

    SenorStiff11 Nothing in this world would get me to jump on the H.A.L.O. bandwagon not even if it was on the PS 2 /PS 3 platforms or buy an X-Box or X-Box 360 for that matter, it's over hyped and overdone, I'm still playing my PS 2 and proud of the fact that it still has legs, you know why..?, cause I take care of my electronic stuff,Hardware,software,peripherals, those lemmings that choose to follow everyone else, so be it, I'm not joining the "in-crowd", and I know of a few people that can't play the newer consoles because the images do something to their brain with the way the images move, so that can be a problem also, thats my take on the whole thing, but once I have some X-tra $, I'm getting that 80GB PS 3 and then I'm getting MGS 4 and maybe Killzone 2 at the same time..

    I'm so excited to play this amazing game. And I don't have to worry about the console who will host this game because my left hand has XBOX360 and my right hand has PS3. Don't have to buy Wii because I don't like, it looks like it was made for young people.

    To the wally that said metal gear started on NES, it started on MSX (japanese computers from the 80s, was a standard, so the machines could be made by sony,hitachi,sanyo, phillips etc), and was already amazing then

    Who cares if this is a Halo killer or not? Honestly! I've played both series and both series are AMAZING! However they are not even remotely in the same genre or anything. There is no way to compare the two. If microsoft gets a share due to multiplatform releases, then more power to Konami on a smart move! If not, then they stay "loyal" to Sony. Remember that Metal Gear ORIGINALLY started on the NES mind you, so the thought of jumping to multiple platforms is not out of the question.

    As gamers, I welcome the multiplatform release. I hope it comes out! I'm sure there are some games coming out on the PS3 like Killzone that will make us drool and the 360 has Halo 3, while the Wii has Super Mario Galaxy. The fact is, this game is going to change future games entirely and will once and give us that movie like experience that we're all waiting for. Who cares which is better? Who is to choose? Who is right? No one.

    what eals do we need we got the new metal gear solid game right around the corner and now this a new trailer and a playable demo!! and by the way the movie is in prduction right now and it might be out late 2008 MGS Best Games EVER!! Hideo Kojima you Rock!

    this game is awesome! i'm not hyped about the action or the gameplay... it's the story line that has me hooked! but dont get me wrong, MGS game have always had a lot of action! i dont care i this goes to the 360, ima get it on the PS3 cuz i know that Hideo will make it best on it, THIS GAME WILL KILL HALO FOR GOOD!!! anyone know anything about the MGS movie? or did i hear wrong?

    konami will never like other company, maybe they wont bring this to 360, let's just hope it's that way. We want a game that overclock the console, most games in the market right now only use 20% of ps3. and MGS is always the one overclock the graphic to a new high level. expecially under help of sony.

Not that I'm saying that Japanese voice acting isn't as much over-the-top, but it does seem that it just fits into the context. Give me an Anime or JRPG with JAPANESE voice actors over american ones any day!

    On a separate note, I'm anticipating MGS4 as much as the next guy, but the hype is getting pathetic

    If I could choose, I would prefer Japanese voice actors over the american ones. hartInmatt is right about american games, most of them, especially one's that has "Tom Clancy" written on them are brainless american propaganda. MGS games has insight of humanity, not just dull premise of american need to "spread freedom and democracy". But, current american policy will get their own share on MGS4's story, it can be seen so clearly. I just hope it hurts and microsoft would ban it for XBOX360 - even if konami would like to release it for it. But right now, it's for PS3 folks, and we are going to enjoy it so much.

    You don't know what your talking about. The Japanese actors are alot more horrible compared to Americans. Why does every Japanese anmie chick try to sound so "cute, honest, sexy" and the male Japanese actors act so "serious with deep a voice".
