GTA: IV CE bundle unwrapped, trailer XBL, PSN-bound

[UPDATE] Rockstar Games releases first images of the $90 Grand Theft Auto IV bundle on eve of second trailer's premiere online--and on Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network.

When Rockstar Games announced it would release a $90 collector's edition of Grand Theft Auto IV, many wondered if it would be worth it. While some of the extras accompanying the game made sense, such as a soundtrack CD and art book, others were perplexing, including a duffle bag and safety deposit box.

This week, the Take-Two subsidiary released the first photos of the collector's edition extras. All the items reflect the Grand Theft Auto IV box art, which simply features the game's logo on a flat, black background. The duffle bag, safety deposit box, and art book all have a similar finish, and the soundtrack CD shows a gray-on-black outline of Liberty City skyline.

In other GTA IV news, tomorrow Rockstar will release the second trailer for the game, titled "Looking for that Special Someone." Besides premiering on the Web, the game will also be available on Xbox Live in high-definition. [UPDATE] On Thursday, Sony also announced that an HD version of the trailer would be made available on the PlayStation Network; it is also now available in high-definition on GameSpot.

Grand Theft Auto IV will be released for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on October 16. The game has not yet been rated, but the regular edition of it will cost $59.99 on both platforms.

    well i paid 150 cdn for the halo 3 legendary pack
    so 90 for this isn't too bad

    I'm sure the safety deposit box and the duffle bag tie into the game (maybe?) but I'm going to pass on the CE version. Just the game is good enough.

    waste of $30 bucks
    with that $30 bucks and $30 bucks more i can buy another game
    that book with never see images will be on the Internet one day
    that CD of music you can hear that on the radio
    the gym bag is a little use full if u go to the gym
    the key chain will be on ebay for 75 cents or less
    and the lock box can be used to keep your child from using it if your a parent

    alot of people are just dumb, all i'm reading from people comments is just junk about the CE. knowing damn well they will be the first ones to get the damn CE. just shut up sit back and enjoy, you getting something that people wish and cant get their hands on for $30 bucks more. use the damn safe to lock your game up so one of you little brothers or sisters cant get they hands on it and f**k up the game you was waiting for for a long time.

    Thats a sexy lookin' lock-box, a nice gym bag, and a nice extra CD... tempted. Sure people eat up whatever companies put out - thats why they put it out. Its the same thing as a PS2 fan being loyal to PS3 no matter how bad or lacking the console (Not saying PS3 is lacking so don't get offended a simple example.)

My mother is Sam Housers maid and stole some dirty underwear from his laundry bin that I'll sell for $599 complete with yellow and brown stains. Seriously though what will people do with that junk, put drugs or human heads in them?

    And I thought the Halo edition was bad, GTA's edition aint looking too good either. Im usually a sucker for the CE versions of the game. If Its going to be game I know im going to enjoy, than I could care less about 10 extra bucks. But...at $90, and lame extras, ima have to sit out the CE version fo GTA 4. And as far as halo, well..I think Halo is a pretty lame fps series so...ill be $130 richer come september!

    This "special edition" is noting but a waist of money and those never-before-seen artwork will be on the Internet one day.So don't buy it if you do,you just lost 90 dollars for noting but junk.

    I'm paying for a game, not for a duffle bag, lock box and some art book. All that stuff is irrelevant. I'd rather have a Strategy Guide and some exclusive in game content for the collector's edition. Even a GTA IV XBox 360 face plate would have worked for me. I'll stick with the game only version, thanks.

    does'nt matter to me which one is the better,360 or ps3 i got em both ! so if ur tired of all the HD vs Bluray chat do the same get both systems, and to be honest there really is very little difference between the 2 consoles if anything xbox live is 10 times better than sony's online gaming.

    Sony announced that it was coming out on the PSN today after it hit PSN, whereas Microsoft announced it yesterday, when the story was originally written. This story was updated as soon as we got the release, so all you people whining "BIAS!" can stuff it.

    Which service is more popular is irrelevant. News relating to PSN updates and the Home Beta get headlines, so your logic is wrong.

    you guys are not understanding my point. The title of this headline clearly states "trailer XBL bound" - I know that XBL means Xbox Live. I was simply pointing out the fact that GS is highlighting the XBL trailer, and it NEVER mentions that the same exact trailer is available on the Playstation Network (PSN). So, both in the headline and within the article, GS pushes the fact that XBL gets the trailer, and totally neglects the fact that the PSN gets the same trailer, and it actually appeared earlier for me!

    So, clarified is the point I was trying to make.

    Definitely a buy. I really love the new kind of collectors edition that are more special than they were earlier. Both Halo 3 and GTA IV is made in special versions I like. Hope other publishers will follow.
