Skate scores 45-song soundtrack

Tunes from artists including David Bowie, Nirvana, the White Stripes, and the Ramones listed to add background ambiance to the game.

Electronic Arts' latest skateboarding title, Skate, will feature 45 songs from a variety of mainly heavy rock and hip-hop artists. Included in the lineup are classics from the Sex Pistols ("Pretty Vacant"), ZZ Top ("Just Got Paid"), and the Ramones ("Psycho Therapy").

Skate, which is being developed by the EA Black Box studio in Vancouver, is due for release in autumn 2007. Gamers explore the fictitious city of San Vanelona while showing off their own unique style of tricks.

EA's worldwide head of music and marketing, Steve Schnur, commented, "We talked to hardcore skaters around the country to help pick many of the songs for Skate."

    i tend to like all music with guitars drums ect, but for a skate game my personla fave music to listen to is either fast paced rock or punk,thers just something about listening to them during a skate game thatmakes my imagination flow and find a few sick lines,also with the map going to be huge my imagination will just go boom and explode.

    gollum quit hatin man. every1 likes there own type of music and if you dont like that kind dont keep it 2 urself. I was really happy 2 see dead prez in there, that the song i listen 2 when i skate. I like seeing more hip hop music in skating games. too bad they didnt put any talib kweli or andre nickatina. I think the soundtrack is good. i dont really mind cuz you pay 2 play the game you dont really buy the game just for its soundtrack so all those people talking trash on the soundtrack just lay off...ive bin a really big fan of TH but it justs not realistic and i think that skate can put up aa great fight and im really really excited for this game 2 come out...

    ElectrolightSH, this game is on X360, so you can create your own candy kid soundtrack for the game if you wish. And write to EA GAMES, make sure they don't neglect raver attire; I mean, God forbid they should forget to include kuala bear backpacks, pacifiers or glowsticks. No e-tarded individual should be without their glowsticks or Happy Happy Hardcore.

    As I've said before "All the songs in the list are crap just like most American music." One person thinks I listen to Swedish metal, which just isn't true. I would never torture myself by listening to rock of any kind or rap as its all crap. Like most of the world I listen to real music and if the developers of Skate want it to have a great soundtrack then they need to add Electronica, Dance, Trance, House, Synthpop, Hi NRG, Happy Hardcore, Eurodance, and Techno.     EA has made one good soundtrack and its for a really old game you guys probley dont remember its called Road Rash on ps1. came out 1995 its a racing bike game. anyways, good soundtracks cost a whole lot of money and that money could be spent on better things like making good games. remember the 2002 ps2 game brittanys dance beat it only had 8 soundtracks because each song went for $250,000 a piece or more. PIONT BEING CUSTOM SOUNDTRACKS RULE you choose the songs. Nobody can choose the exact songs you want except you.

    I could care less about the music in any game so this list doesn't matter. Skate as a game will hands down be better then Tony Hawk if you actually want a skateboarding game and not an arcade game like TH.

    ------------------------- sir,it is americans who invented rock and roll, which gave birth to punk rock (another american original-with the ramones-not the sex pistols!!) and from that you have hardcore(yep hardcore was american made) to metal (american dittos), to what you have today. even rap is american made. (even though rap is dead.IMO)

    Looks to be a pretty good soundtrack for an EA game. Doubt it will be uncensored if the game gets a T rating. I'm more interested in the game itself. Will it give the leading brand (Tony Hawk) a run for its money?

    The arguing here over the soundtrack is ridiculous. You know the old joke about arguing on the 'Net.

    That's a good soundtrack. As a popular music afficianado / snob, I thoroughly improve, despite being perplexed by the choice for a David Bowie song. Oh, and DEVO FTW. Duty now for the future!

    EDIT: @ cross-dark-fire, there is no profanity in the NWA song. I think it might be the only one that doesn't have it, hence the inclusion.

    well actually im 15 years old, and there's alot more skaters who listen to classic rock bands than u think.i would skate, but i dont have money and no board, and there's no skate shops where i live.

    this is a skater sound track..they are trying to cater to skaters...they didn't make the sound track for a 32 year old gaming nerd so why don't you guys shut your mouths
