Games entering beta are a good indication a release date is nigh, and World in Conflict proves to be no exception. Massive Entertainment today announced its Cold War action strategy game will see release this September.

Massive also announced a hefty preorder incentive package, which is now available. Customers who preorder World in Conflict will receive an invite to and extra multiplayer maps for a beta event in July, a demo, and access to multiplayer-specific perks. Also included will be Modern Marvels: Strategic Air Command, a History Channel-produced DVD that details the agency overseeing the US nuclear program throughout the Cold War.

Set in an alternate history, World in Conflict blends tactical real-time strategy gameplay with first-person-shooter action. For more on the game, check out GameSpot's recent coverage.
