Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 3 punching in

"Ultimate chapter" in the popular game series in development for the Wii and PS2.

Atari will be bringing another round of the Dragon Ball Z action fighting game series to the Wii and PlayStation 2 "during the 2007 holiday season." Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 3 will be the "ultimate chapter," according to the company, and will feature 20 characters that have not been seen before in the video game adaptations. The latest game is being developed by Namco Bandai and Spike.

Atari's senior product manager, Emily Anadu, commented, "[These characters include] Nail, King Cold and King Vegeta and battle stages that fans will love. Each year, the developers refine the game to bring fans closer to feeling like they are actually playing the show."

The latest game will also have a number of new features, including more than 150 playable characters, enhanced fighting techniques, and more than 20 battle stages. The Wii Remote will also feature an improved control system that will be used to "allow players to easily mimic signature moves and execute devastating attacks as they are performed in the Dragon Ball Z animated series." Another feature will be the addition of day and night stages, with the power of the moon giving players different ways to transform their characters.

Dragon Ball Z is part of one of the most successful anime trilogies and originated from a Japanese manga comic series. The story follows the life and adventures of Goku, who defends the Earth against evil with the help of the Z Warriors. There have been more than 25 games in the Dragon Ball Z series published so far, totalling more than 10 million units sold.

    well things have been tough for me. i only have a ps2. but the bt2 was awsome so i know the bt3 is beter!

    You know what I think would be sweet, if they brought the legacy of goku/buu's fury games to the ps2 or next gen consoles. Like 3D 3rd person RPG versions of them. Cause I always loved the legacy of goku games but having to play it on GBA with the GBA's sucky graphics was kind of a bummer

    This is going to be the best DBZ to date. maybe even better the Tenkaichi 2 and that awseome as it is as i've never stopped playing it every day from the day it came out unitl now.

    this game is going to ROCK. new features in modes, even more areas to blow up (LOL), not to mention OVER 150 CHARACTERS. the only down side is it could be the last of the budokai series in dragonball Z games, but if this game is as awesome as it looks it probably wont matter.

    In my opinion the added features and characters is awesome the only thing that sucks about this game is the fact that it is the same sagas over and over again. I'm not sure about other people but to me that gets boring after about 4 games. An added feature in which you could make your own truly custom character would make this game worth it though. Maybe a free roaming saga where you can walk around and do stuff like in an RPG but still stick to the original story line would be cool

    here's something i found out for you guys wanting the 1P+2P VS CPU+CPU, in the second one, choose tag team, have your friend over you want to team up with, have one controller, select 1P VS CPU, and simply select the characters you and your player wants, and the ones you want to go against. there, you see, it's already on your game, sometimes we're all not open minded, even me.

    i agree with yokoswrath, if you want online get the Wii edition then. it should have it on there for you online guys. the second was good to me, but the only downfall in the first one was the health, the battles ended too short for me. *_*

    well i have every other game exept for Super Dragon Ball Z . So its only natural to get the next one i love DBZ its so cool lets just see how it goes in the gaming universe.

    no offense but ......who cares if u didn't like tenkaichi 1 or 2 u can go 2 HFIL your not a real fan and your opinion is not cared 4 yeah they messed up a few things story wise but thats life n stop whining bout it not being able 2 go online i am glad it cant what would be interesting is tag team battles with separate controllers having a friend on your side tag battles where u can make your partner a computer n tag battles where more then 2 warriors r on the filed at the same time sides me n my friends wouldn't want 2 embarrass people

    What we need is Goku and Vegeta jr.
    and then they can maybe make a scenerio off of that.
    and create a character would be the best thing EVER!!!

    but they should put in goku and vegeta jr. in the game. =]

    i dont wanna c all da evil dragons, juss da ones dat matter like eis n nouva shenron. genral rildo shoiuld b in it, and gt vegeta would b new and interestin stead of fightin da same outfit vegeta we seen thru all da tenkaichi series..how can u make a game based on db, dbz, gt without him and gt goten n trunks it wouldnt matter for nerdy ass gohan cuz i think he wouldve been useless anyways....(except future gohan he seem more powerful) hope someday da tenkaichi series would put bac da differents in stats like they did in bt...dat was more unique den havin every1 start at level 8...dat way i could tell whos fast or has a strong finishers.... da fast pace in da game isnt dat bad but i would like to use my finishers once in a while instead of doin da same easy combos to win a match

    more alternate outfits would be good...outfits which the characters been seen on tv with not no black saiyan outfit for trunks n vegeta okay (maybe vegeta) but i wanna see da outfit with future fightin trunks wit the black jeans and undershirt wen he fought broly...it prolly wont be put in da next bt series but hes juss one of my fav characters i like to play as

    n with da story mode they should put in more scenerios

    and i kno this wont happen for a while but havin da opportunity to make ur own z character would b crazy makin him or her any race in da game n choosin the moves u would want him or her to hav (inluding age, color, clothing, with or without weapons etc)

    They are going to have future gohan and gt goku ive been waiting for a game like this if they could get gt goten that will be great but if they dont have gt vegeta thats fine his clothes in gt sucks compared to dbz cloths

    Online is only on wii, but in ps2 , if you have have either tenkaichi 1 or 2 data, you can unlock, new modes, BT1 will unlock an spicific mode, and BT2 will unlock a different mode.

    Please add a create a character... and I agree with Vicionator, they should add the ability to completley destroy youre oponent. This way you'l please action seekers and anime fans.

    Online play would definitely be a plus since we are at an age where we play different people across the globe and it gives us gamers a chance to test our skills against others. If the want us to feel like we are playing the show, maybe adding moves like using blast attack and if you miss redirect it like Krillin or Goku would be able do. I think that would be cool. Or maybe when you see chararcters transform the sky may turn dark or the earth would tremble and lightning cam efrom the clouds when they are raising the ki. Get slammed to the ground and you blow up the surrounding area to get out. make it really destructive. Stuff like that would be awesome. Really makes you feel like you are playing the show and show off the power these characters have.

    Excelent its the first thing i would say, i am a normal dragon ball fan, and knowing that another game more complete of the series is going to come i can wait, i think some of us never get tired of the dragon ball series

    Even though I got Budokai Tenkaichi 2 for Christmas, I just recently decided to pick up and play it. Thanks to my nephew, I have gotten back into DBZ once again. I admit, I enjoyed Budokai 3 but...just let it go. A new developer is taking a crack at it now and I enjoy Spike's foray with the Tenkaichi series. I'm sure when it gets picked up for next-gen, another developer might take over once again. You never know.

    People that complain about Tenkaichi being a button masher also needs to give it a rest. I can easily adapt and Tenkaichi feels more like a Dragon Ball Z game than ever. The first one left a lot to be desired, but when I picked up the 2nd one, my god...it just felt right. Especially since with the transformations, the speed....the power...it's picks up drastically. I want another Budokai like the rest of you, but Tenkaichi has found its stride and it's not going to let up. I'd love for it to be online. Hell, look at Mortal Kombat....online runs swimmingly on there. Well, in my case it does. I can let online slide but when next-gen really starts to pick up, it will be a necessity although I think it can still be pulled off now.

    Another thing MK did right as well as Soul Calibur was the Create-A-Fighter option. I'm just chomping at the bit about this being brought to the DBZ games. Of course, this will probably be better implemented in next-gen. I'm sure everyone would love to create a menagerie of fighters though and that would really sell out this game fast and make it virtually never-ending.

    As for characters...I like what I see so far, but the Spice Boys, Android 14 and 15, The remainder of the Shadow Dragons, GT looks for each fighter currently on the roster.....Have those along with a revamped story (Sorry, but dialogue with the same mundane theme is starting to wear thin....The first Budokai had it right all along...) and I'll easily buy this game.

    I'll probably get it anyways, but meh...nice to have a little added incentive in the process.

    Online would be nice, but hate rushes in these games, no way to counter them if they hit. I think that you should be able to block rushes by pushing random buttons like Naruto: Ultimate Ninja, and maybe some more combos are needed.

    Yes mnmguy94, Pikkon, or "Paikuhan" was in the game. He was okay, and he featured one of the only physical Blast 2 moves that didn't require you to do a rush move. Yes, Online would be cool.

    i agree with canefan31 as i would do the same things u would do and i thinks its about time ( or maybe behind since 75 percent of games have online) atari put an online feature where u can sell rara items with other players and battle them and and trade

    i never got BT2 so i don´t know if they put Paikuhan already. the green dude from the other world tourney right after Goku and Perfect Cell died. that´d be awesome to put him in.

    hopefully there's a co-op mode .
    1P+2P VS CPU + CPU That wwould be a big improvement .. 1 vs 1 is too easy .
    even when you're playing on hard. Or maybe a new tournament .. like the one in Bojack Unbound.
    It would be chaotic but at least its a challenge
