Bomberman returns to Xbox 360

New installment of mascot party game franchise headed to Live Arcade later this year.

Hudson Entertainment's Bomberman made his debut on the Xbox 360 last fall in Bomberman: Act Zero. However, reviewers deemed the reworked version of the classic franchise a dud. Undeterred, Hudson today announced it is bringing its iconic multiplayer mascot back to the system with a worldwide launch of a new game this summer.

Bomberman Live for the Xbox Live Arcade will feature the franchise's familiar big heads and cartoon style, but it will add character customization, high-definition visuals, and eight-player online gameplay. For those who prefer their cutthroat party games played face-to-face, the game will also feature four-player action on a single console.

The Xbox 360 isn't the only current-gen console with the diminutive explosives expert's mark on it. Hudson's mascot has two games for the Wii (the Virtual Console title Bomberman '93 and the upcoming Bomberman Land), and his debut on the PlayStation 3 was announced back at Tokyo Game Show 2005.
