David Jaffe's first downloadable effort arrives, Midway offers an alien shooter demo, Xbox 360 racer goes gold, Monster Madness is delayed, and Bungie's shooter hits a milestone.

Calling All Cars! reports for duty
After a last-minute misstep, David Jaffe's debut downloadable title, Calling All Cars!, is being released on the PlayStation 3's online store today. The game includes 10 different cars and four levels and sells for $9.99. For more on Calling All Cars!, check out GameSpot's review.

BlackSite:Area 51 demo arrives
Midway is treating gamers to a close encounter of the lead-filled kind with a single-player teaser demo of its xenophobic BlackSite: Area 51, now available for download on the Xbox Live Marketplace. The demo gives players a look at the game's small-town setting of Rachel, Nevada, and lets them try out the game's one-button squad command system and interactive environments. Halo 2 online: Over 5 million served
Though its debut on Vista-enabled PCs has been pushed back, the Xbox edition of Halo 2 reached a new milestone today. Two and a half years after its release, the game welcomed its five millionth online player, according to developer Bungie Studios. Bungie defines an online player as being a unique Live account that has played Halo 2 online, and it does not include guests among the number. The five millionth online player's Gamertag? "Ultra Theodore." Bungie also noted that Halo 2 is fast approaching 700 million unique multiplayer games on Live.

Forza Motorsport 2 golden
Forza Motorsport 2's developers have finished the race, but it remains to be seen whether it's time for a victory lap and a trip to the winner's circle. Microsoft today announced that its latest Xbox 360 racing game has gone gold and again confirmed its May 29 release date. Monster Madness staved off two weeks
Southpeak Interactive has confirmed that its twisted suburban shooter Monster Madness has suffered a slight delay. Previously scheduled for release on the Xbox 360 and PC next week, the game is now set for a May 29 launch. In the meantime, interested gamers will have to keep themselves busy with the game's demo on Xbox Live Marketplace, which includes a taste of the title's single-player and multiplayer modes.

    I just finished playing the demo for Blacksite and it was disappointing. It was pretty much everything "lowenergycycle" said, however, I don't care about graphics and I didn't notice any problems with the AI (probably because I was too busy shooting). What's worse was that it was the quickest demo I've ever played; you could probably finish it in under a minute.

    It depresses me that all these people think Blacksite "looks awesome!" and is "insane!"

    It's just a crap generic shooter with average Alien enemies, an utterly derivative All-American (F*** Yeah!) squad of brainless tough guys, an overused and wholly unoriginal setting & story, uninspiring use of the Unreal3 Engine (some of the worst rain and flame effects I've seen in years combined with a pretty bland set of textures), buggy run-into-a-corner-forever squad AI, brings absolutely nothing new to the FPS genre, and the Demo spends almost as much time selling it's bullet-point list at the end as it does actually allowing you to play.

    Speaking of which: that part where it says "...to create the ultimate game experience!"... I almost threw up when I read that.

    Rubbish. I played better games in the playground at infant school, 20-ish years before I owned an Xbox360, with nothing but fingers for guns and "Pichow! Pichow!" for bullets.

    Who the hell signed the papers to fund this piece of crap, and why are they still working in the Video-Games industry?

    I never thought ill say this but the demo for Area 51 is seriously insane, its like only 5 minutes worth of time but the graphics rain effects and the enemies and the crys of your teammates to ur every action is insane. The moment i first encountered the 3 legged enemy in the abandoned modern gas station i though WAR OF THE WORLDS this game looks like it was ripped right from spielbergs movie I cant wait as long as the multiplayerr lives up to the frantic single player

    Calling All Cars is the funnist game i've ever played on my ps3. gamespot reviews be trippin. but i would expect this from a gamesite that gave perfect dark zero a 9 and mario kart 64 a 6.4

    Forza looks good, but in all honesty it looks very similar maybe a slight bit better than GT HD. (I compared side by side). PGR4 will blow this game away in terms of graphics.

    The game itself is great though.

    Really? I was sure I lived in Quebec as well. I also know personally 3 persons with a PS3 and my clan in RFOM is Quebec only, and we're like 20. Not counting that there's a similar clan out there, but the leader doesn't want us to merge, so we just fight and throw some TABARNACKS over the headsets.

    Demo is available now. Not bad. Graphics are REALLY good. However, I noticed a few glitches. One in particular was that when I walked inside the gun still had water bouncing off of it as if I was outside. Some slow downs in moments where the wasn't really any action going on and at another point the demo almost completely froze. Needs a little work. Unfortunately, the gameplay is a tad shallow. I have a feeling this game is gonna be alot like the last Area 51 game. A whole lot of mindless shooting against dumb enemies. =(

    calling all carzzzzz... game is crazy fun, fun, funnnn. i had a blast playing online. and i do mean a blast. i gotta tell u its one of the most fun down loadable games ive ever played. if u own a ps3 u must get this game NOW...

    And if you hate the Forza 2 controls, that is because you never played a racing sim. Realistic controls, no arcade-y controls there. That is why you are not used to it. You're used to your silly Need for Speed...

    Forza is the reason I bought my 360 and from playing the demo last night, I didn't disappoint. It is truly awesome! With Blacksite out too and Halo 3 Beta and the Crackdown content, it looks like I'm in for a good time.

    i dont have a 360(i dont even have a regular xbox) but if Forza 2 is all its cracked up to be, ill buy a 360 just to play that game.....as long as i dont get one that doesnt break or overheat.

    I'm not expecting Monster Madness to be very good. The demo was extremely under-whelming.. I kind of wish it doesn't come out at all.

    No BlackSite demo yet (probably tomorrow). I'm not upset, because this is an unexpected surprise.
    And I wasn't impressed with the Forza 2 demo. There's a good selection of cars (the Z06!), but the graphics didn't impress me (PGR3's were better), and the game is kind-of boring, for some reason. I won't be buying it, but maybe when it become a Platinum Hit I'll pick it up.
